Re: The Feds got one right
Were they literally shoving the Bibles down their throats? I certainly wouldn't condone that. The Holy Bible should be treated with more respect than that!
No person who has not read the Bible can consider himself (or herself, we're not sexist around here) to be a well informed citizen of the US. The Bible impacts virtually every aspect of life in the Western world (not to mention the Middle East).
I don't know if this helps, but I think we should distribute Korans to students, too, since it is as important to know your enemy as it is to know yourself. I don't worry that reading the Koran will indoctrinate children into Moohamedianism--just the opposite, once they find out how violent, churlish, arbitrary, jealous, indignant, rude, uncompassionate, moody, and cruel is Allah, and once they see how the Koran is filled with contradictions surrounded by conundrums wrapped in turbans, I trust our children not to make the wrong choice by deciding to join Cat Stevens in Gitmo.
So let's try to make all of this available to our kids in public schools, and leave it to their parents and their church deacons to beat the love of Jesus into their hides if they stray too far from the teachings of God
BTW, I occasionally give some positive rep to the author of a non-Christian point of view that is respectfully presented and thoughtfully argued. Rarely, I have to admit, would I do that for a post gussied up in fuchsia.

- it is common knowledge that what I say is true. Any idiot knows that homeless queers and whores seek shelter in a storm and a vacant church works as good as any. The shelter from the storm that they should seek of course is Baby Jesus, turn with me if you will in your KJV to:
