California Supreme Court overturns gay marriage ban

SAN FRANCISCO - The California Supreme Court has overturned a gay marriage ban in a ruling that would make the nation's largest state the second one to allow gay and lesbian weddings.

It would be in San Fagcisco!

The city of San Francisco, two dozen gay and lesbian couples and gay rights groups sued in March 2004 after the court halted San Francisco's monthlong same-sex wedding march.

Thank you for your clear insight into this matter. Your post should be required reading for all lie-berals who think that this is at all a good thing.

The homers knew that they wouldn't win this fight democratically, so they went over the heads of the people to unelected liberal activist judges. To rub salt in the wound, nanny-state liberals in the blue states keep enacting gay-rights laws and fag-enabling school curricula, and decent people have to sue to protect their First Amendment rights. Also, Republicans in Congress have to keep the D.C. Council from giving homers any more special privileges.

You say the most daft things, Maggoty. If I worked only half as hard as my colleagues, would I have the basic right to be paid as much, or would it be a special privilege for me to be paid as much? In the same way, if some homer's idolatry has prompted God to give him up to poofterism (Romans 1:26-27), being treated the same as normal people is a special privilege.

Legally speaking, marriage is a contractual joining of two consenting adults, which gives them certain rights in terms of inheritance, property ownership, insurance coverage, proxy consent for medical treatment, child custody, power of attorney, etc.

Animals and desserts are not capable of entering into legal agrements.

It's not about capacity to enter into an agreement. The Bible sets forth laws that in certain cases give a woman no say in whether she is to be married or to whom:

Ex. 21:7: And if a man sell his daughter to be a maidservant, she shall not go out as the menservants do.

Deut. 22:28-29: If a man find a damsel [that is] a virgin, which is not betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be found; Then the man that lay with her shall give unto the damsel's father fifty [shekels] of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.

Since she isn't agreeing to anything, her capacity to enter into an agreement is beside the point; she certainly doesn't have the capacity not to do so. Therefore, your argument actually hurts your position.

In this country, women DO get to choose whether or not they wish to marry. You cannot legally force a woman to marry if she doesn't wish to.

Legally speaking, marriage is a contractual joining of a man and a woman. Or that's how it used to be until these lieberal blue states decided to stomp all over that idea. Now that they have taken the gender issue out of it, who's to say they won't take out the species issue as well?
