I am reminded of Mark 11:12-25. Jesus is hungry and sees a fig tree, but the fig tree is bare of figs. Anyway, Jesus is so annoyed that he punishes the fig tree by cursing it to never bear fruit, which causes the tree to wither up and die.

Anyway, for those of you who are wondering why I'm telling a story about fig trees . . . ever wonder why old Jews are so ugly and withered up*??? Hopefully by now you're putting 2 and 2 together. Or do I need to explain in small words for our non-ham eaters???

But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. Hebrews 10:12-14

Of course, the Jews might take a little more perfecting than some other folks, but Salvation is waiting there for them just the same.

The Jews did not recognize Our Savior as the Son of God.

When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.

The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God. John 19:6,7

The Jews of antiquity despised and mocked Jesus, and they carry the stain of their crime to this day. They are responsible for Jesus' death.

Of course, God required the blood sacrifice of His son in order to offer mankind redemption. Therefore, God orchestrated the Crucifixion as His merciful path to salvation: the slow death of His Son by torture. God planned that all along.

Jesus prayed that He not be required to die, at least not so painfully:

And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,

Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. Luke 22:41,42

But God figured it was the old cross-and-nails for Jesus, and so it was done. And that's why Jews are evil.
