Hello everyone, i just joined today and just wanted to introduce myself. I first want to answer any questions about by name. I chose sponge for Christ because this is what I want to be in essence. I want to absorb and gain all the knowledge and spirituality I can to become an upstanding Christian, I know the name sounds a little funny but I just used the name to describe how I want to be in Christ. I have been on this earth for 19 years soon to be 20 in a week, and I really found especially with the new year to become more involved in Christ. This question of if marijuana is a sin has interested and I really want to seek answers both in God and in my brothers and sisters in Christ. I understand that our bodies are temples of Christ and that we should obey the law of the state all indicated by the Bible, but what confuses me is when the law of the state conflicts with the Bible. I know by common sense that you listen to the higher power before the state, but say if i was born somewhere were the law said that smoking marijuana is legal? I say this cause a friend of mine in college is a Christian but comes from a country where it is legal. Also since it is true that our bodies are temples of the Lord, then should we not drink alcohol, or smoke cigarettes even though those things are deemed legal by our state? Also please understand that I don't want to offend anyone, i just want to increase in God through someone who already has.

I understand that it does seem odd to post my first response in this particular forum, but this is from a totally different ordeal in my life and I came here to seek answers for. I know of the joy of God and what good he has done in my life, and I would never to endorse anything like doing drugs especially on a Christian forum such as this.

Please understand that I'm trying to get answers here so I can convey them to others. This exact question came up amongst a group of friends and really no one in the group though most of where Christian did not have the knowledge to give an answer. This is not me trying to sit here and convince you that smoking weed is not a sin. I am just not an expert on the subject. If it is a sin say yes and tell me why, don't just sit there and blast me for asking a question.
