Goth music and Black Metal do not sound even remotely similar. Splitting hairs would be separating Goth Rockers, Death Rockers, Horror Punks, Darkwavers, and Romantic Doomsters, as those are all terms to describe subsets of Goth. Only someone who is tone deaf would think Sisters of Mercy sound anything like Satyricon.

Goth is a genre of music. Goths are fans of Goth music. Nothing more, nothing less. It has nothing to do with "evil" or religion. It is simply music.

Your attempts at deception are as ludicrous as the church's have always been to educated peoples. You think God smiles upon you for deceiving and lying? You do realize that God sees all and he knows how childishly rude and insulting you are?

What is Gothic?
Its a genre of music a kind of dark Postpunk that developed in the late 70s and early 80s.
Its also a subculture, a group of people united by their love for this music called Goths.

What is Gothic music?
As allready mentioned its a kind of dark Postpunk. Which means it developed from Punk. And indeed many Goth bands do still resemble Punk a lot in sound.
Bauhaus, The Sisters Of Mercy, Christian Death, The Cure, Siouxsie And The Banshees, Alien Sex Fiend,... are some of the prominent Goth classics. But Goth didn't die after the 80s, it just went underground. There are plenty of popular newer Goth bands to like Cinema Strange, Bloody Dead And Sexy, Elusive, Frank The Baptist, All Gone Dead, Eat Your Make-Up,... There is a much longer list of Goth bands below.

Are there different kinds of Goth music?
Yes, there are a handfull of Goth subgenres in existence. Goth comes in two big categories, bands with a first generation sound and bands with a second generation sound.

The first generation is the first Goth music and later bands with the same sound. This is all still fairly close to Punk. Under it fall three Goth subgenres; Deathrock, Batcave and 80s Popgoth.
Deathrock was the first generation of Goth that developed in America. Of all the subgenres its closest to Goth. Famous Deathrock bands are Christian Death, Kommunity FK and 45 Grave.
Batcave was the first generation of Goth that developed in Europe. It usually had a more gloomy and experimental sound to it, like Alien Sex Fiend, Specimen and Virgin Prunes.
80s Popgoth isn't really a subgenre. But some early Goth bands defied classification into a subgenre, like The Cure and Siouxsie And The Banshees.

The second generation of Goth first appeared in the middle of the 80s. A new kind of Goth had evolved away from the Punk roots. It still sounded Goth but different. Two subgenres used to fall under it; Gothic Rock and Dark Wave.
Gothic Rock is Goth with some Hard Rock influences, usually with deep male vocals. The most famous bands are The Sisters Of Mercy, Fields Of The Nephilim and The Mission.
Dark Wave is Goth etc. etc.with some ethereal and electronic influences added. It doesn't exist anymore as a Goth subgenre. Dark Wave has for the most part moved away from its Goth roots and is now a seperate genre. Only a minority stay true to the Goth sound today. Examples of "Gothic Dark Wave" are Xymox, Frozen Autumn and Sopor Aeternus

Later on we were informed that dark wave is not goth any more. Sopor Æternus is a good example of what's wrong with this demonic cacophany and how many times have we heard that goth is about the music? or goth is just people who like to dress in a particular way? so being aware of this obsessional cult is important for parents - although I suspect that if your son or daughter started writhing like this at the breakfast table its behaviour would get noticed. And getting "noticed" is the primum mobile of all goth. Take a look at this wretched specimen:

Therefore these gothics are not worshipping Jesus and have not His joy fulfilled in themselves. Every Christian knows what it's like when Jesus' joy attains filfillment inside us. The Bible tells us so and it is so and no Christian ever looks like Sopor Æternus. We'd rather be knocked on the head and lapse into permanent stupor which, by-the-way is not what actually happens due to that inconvenient Lake Of Fire.

Satan is the object of desire for everyone not worshipping Jesus. Whether they know it or not. Satan is therefore the god of goth and any child adopting the look or listening to "music" or obsessing over the lyrics has already started worshipping at his altar.

The Bible is clear on this point, the passage quoted is sufficient but there are many others, and The Bible is clear what to do with such children. So be alert at breakfast: is that spasm just a fashionable affectation?

Yes, Goth is about the music, and not every Goth band has the same lyrical things or exact same image. No getting noticed is not something all Goths are about. As I said, Goths are fans of Goth music. If some Goths dress in a certain way, that usually just means they happen to like that style. Anyone who says "Goths are just people who like to dress a certain way" probably aren't Goth and are ignorant as to what it is. Most Goths do not look like Anna Varney. Honestly, I think she/he/it/whatever looks ridiculous, though the only skin you see are hands and feet (how whorish) and I have never liked anything I've heard by Sopor Aeternus. That song isn't too bad though. Thanks. Maybe I should start. Also slowly dancing is not "having convulsions."

I've read some of the things self proclaimed Goths have said on your forums, and the majority of them are not Goth. If you would actually look up the history of Goth Rock, you would know that the term Goth was used to describe the fans of the music. You cannot be a fan of a type of music without listening to it. You would also know, and should know if you know who Sopor Aeternus are, that Goth music does not sound remotely like Death Metal, Black Metal, Marilyn Manson, etc., who I have seen used on your forums as examples of Goth.

Some Goths dress traditional/punky, some dress romantigoth, some dress Victorian or Medieval, and others just dress like your every day person and not in anything you would see a Goth band wearing. Though obviously there is a fashion popular with some Goths due to the way the bands dress, Goth is not a fashion or about fashion. You can listen to the music without dressing like the bands. The owner of Club Orpheus wears black dress pants and a regular blue button-up dress shirt. Some Goths were full length skirts, some wear short, some don't wear skirts at all. Some are fat and some are skinny. I'm sure there are a few who stink, but most do not. What blood? I'm not sure what you are implying with that. No one can live without blood. What missing persons are related to Goth music? The only Goth I know who ever went missing was hiding from an abusive boyfriend, and the rest of the Goth scene was protecting her and cooperating with police.

A full length skirt is Satanic now? So what do you have your women wear? Slutty mini skirts? A light blue plain button up dress shirt is Satanic? No one demands that Goths wear any specific thing. There is no dress code that you have to follow to listen to any type of music.
