Fashion, yes, and just as permanent and meaningful. What would you call a movement that enforces standards of dress, deportment, and thought, and punishes differences with ostracization, or even alienation from the community? I'd call it a cult.

I don't see how that would do anything. I'm disagreeing with people who claim that goths. Who have nothing to do with satanism or cults. Are cultists just because of the type of clothing they wear. Or music they listen to.

Saying that they are cultists is very extreme and asinine.

The point is not the "persons individual lifestyle". Every goth I've ever met is quite supportive of people's right to do or wear what they want. It's when the "persons individual lifestyle" does not align with that of the majority in that movement, and they get banished from that movement, that shows it's a cult.

Try wearing a (non defaced for irony's sake) "Hello Kitty" T-shirt, and greeting everyone with smiles, laughter, a cheery disposition, Justin Bieber on your iPod, and see how welcome they make you feel.

You speak of this "Marilyn Manson" as if it is some god, and as we all know there is only One True God, Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

In the airforce they tell me it's wine women and song. I have not met any airmen.
The navy features different commodities, including rum and gramophone records but the sailors I know remain silent on most aspects of their service except concerning what they'd been obsessing over at sea and now ashore how soon they'd like to test their latest theory. The sailors I know are agile and alert.
Mentally alert, that is: how unlike the goth whose inner clockwork is having quite an airing here I'd never realised how much oil it'd take to get them ticking oil would probably be inadequate I think they'd need nitric acid to loosen up if the whole apparatus has not become a solid welded lump.

Wow, there's so much censorship in there, getting the full meaning of the song would be impossible. This particular song is a favourite of mine, it doesn't bash Christianity, but point out flaws in petty, preaching/moral-driven 90s talk show hosts and society in general.

I am not goth, by the way, I just happen to appreciate creative artists.
