You crazy kids today with your wanna be goth antics. It does bring back memories though. I’m Saved now, but once I was as lost as you all are. Let me take you back to a time, a time before most of you babygoths were born, the late 80’s.

When goth was young, it was actually scary and dangerous. Bands like Christian Death, Sex Gang Children, 45 Grave, The Misfits, and Alien Sex Fiend roamed the land. Most goths, like my friends and I, almost never slept, because like real counter-culture types, we shot heroin and meth almost daily, sometimes together!

We lived in squats or on the street, panhandling or stealing to make ends meet. We stole hair dye, clothes, and the make-up we wore too, sometimes from stores and sometimes from houses where people were foolish enough to invite us, usually so they could have some “weird” people to liven up their otherwise lame parties.

We pierced each other’s ears (and other parts) with dull, unsterile pins or needles and we drank like fish, usually the cheapest beer we could get someone of legal age to buy for us.

Instead of having to worry about people giving us dirty looks and giggling at us on our way to Hot Topic or "harassing" us on the non-existent internet, we were often physically attacked by, well, by Punks, Jocks, Frat Boys, Mods, Straights, just about everybody!

So quit your whining! If you want to dress like a cross between Wednesday Addams and Stevie Nicks, expect some folks to look down their noses at you. Better yet, you could just get over this ridiculous phase you’re going through and accept Jesus into your supposedly black hearts.
