    I've been confronted.

A friend who has been involved in a Catholic "church" for some time has been pressuring me to come to a small group, while I've been trying to get him to come to MY Church of the one-and-only Jesus Christ.

He seems to not care about anything I say, although I try to convince him daily that his hiethenistic ways are wrong.

    Can anyone help?
Everything is possible for he who believes.

    Yes we can friend. Have you considered;
    • calling your’ friend at odd hours asking him to join you in church?
    • e-mailing your' friend at lest five times a day asking him if he wants to join you at your' church?
    • beginning every conversation with your’ friend with "So, joining me for Sunday service"?
    • Bragging to your' friend about how many attractive and easily available women there are at your’ church?
    • Suggesting you won't discuss any indiscreet secrets you know about your’ friend with your friends family’ significant other/ boss if he attends church with you?
    • Make any favor you do for your’ friend conditional upon him joining church with you?
    • Tell your’ friend the only reason he won’t attended church with you is because he secretly hates you?
    • Offer your’ friend money if he attends church with you?
    • Brag about the excellent free meals you get after Sunday service to your’ friend?

As you can see Jesus offers us many tools to help our friends make the correct choices. You just need to be patient with him and have faith in Jesus.

This isn't putting faith in Jesus at all. Most of this is using worldly desires to try to get someone to go to church. Try praying about it and being a light to your friend.

Bobby-Joe, that was the worst advice ever. If you love God as much as you say you do, why don't you take that racist icon off. There is nothing funny nor godly about killing people because of their skin color. I pray that God humbles your heart.

Agreed Codykjv. Bobby joe has what some of us here term an 'unusual' sense of humour.Thankfully not all of us here exhibit such 'risque' or even downright offensive attitudes.
Truthfully - his avatar has been the same since i joined, although I never thought to question its significance, because so far I have read every word Bobby has written and found it enlightening and informative, so I didn't judge him on his avatars 'appearance' alone.
Perhaps you should attempt to be less judgemental yourself, and judge Bobby Joe by his message and not by his picture. There is a word for people who judge by appearance - they are called racists. We hereat Landover pride ourselves on being better than that. If you'd like to stay among our number I urge you to reconsider your hypocritical 'attitude'.
        Yours In Christ

and Bobby - joe - Try to have a more conventional sense of humour please.

I'd disagree. Of course, praying about it and being a light to one's friends should always be the first tactic used in any situation, but if we truly have faith in Jesus, does it seem so implausible that someone who only started attending Church for worldly reasons might not be overcome with His Love as soon as he entered the place?

It is unfortunate, but the traditional costume of the Landover Security Detail predates that of the KKK by quite some time. It's a symbol of how much Bobby-Joe hates and resents the KKK that he isn't prepared to just give up the fight and that he continues using that symbolism in its original context, even if it sometimes leads to him being misunderstood.
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

I was wondering about the similarities myself. Thanks for clearing it up, BT.
CodyKJV - perhaps you might like to offer Bobby joe an apology?

I'm curious the manner of "group" your friend is trying to bring you into.

Did he say, perhaps, a "prayer group"? Or was it more of a "group thing"? Is a hot tub involved? Or did he refer to his "coven"?

If he means only a prayer group of some sort, attending (with full faith in Jesus) could provide you an opportunity to gain his greater trust, and then invite ALL of his "group" to your church, where you can be sure they'll hear a sermon about the evils of idolatry and cannibalism.

Since you are a faithful follower of Jesus, you have nothing to fear from these Catholics, Satanists, free-lovers, Freemasons, whatever they may be. As it is written in James 4:7, Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Fear not if they try to involve you in perverse rituals. No harm shall come to you, since Jesus will be with you.

What, so telling your friend about an excellent free meal is worse than letting him go to Hell? You liberal types certainly are wrong-headed.
