“The secular humanists may argue that we are a secular nation,” McLeroy said, jabbing his finger in the air for emphasis. “But we are a Christian nation founded on Christian principles. The way I evaluate history textbooks is first I see how they cover Christianity and Israel. Then I see how they treat Ronald Reagan—he needs to get credit for saving the world from communism and for the good economy over the last twenty years because he lowered taxes.”

"What good does it do to put a Chinese story in an English book?" he said. "You learn all these Chinese words, OK. That's not going to help you master ... English. So you really don't want Chinese books with a bunch of crazy Chinese words in them. Why should you take a child's time trying to learn a word that they'll never ever use again?"
He added that some words — such as chow mein — might be useful.

From this article:
McLeroy is a robust, cheerful and inexorable man, whose personality is perhaps typified by the framed letter T on the wall of his office, which he earned as a “yell leader” (Texas A&M nomenclature for cheerleader) in his undergraduate days in the late 1960s. “I consider myself a Christian fundamentalist,” he announced almost as soon as we sat down. He also identifies himself as a young-earth creationist who believes that the earth was created in six days, as the book of Genesis has it, less than 10,000 years ago. He went on to explain how his Christian perspective both governs his work on the state board and guides him in the current effort to adjust American-history textbooks to highlight the role of Christianity. “Textbooks are mostly the product of the liberal establishment, and they’re written with the idea that our religion and our liberty are in conflict,” he said. “But Christianity has had a deep impact on our system. The men who wrote the Constitution were Christians who knew the Bible. Our idea of individual rights comes from the Bible. The Western development of the free-market system owes a lot to biblical principles.”
For McLeroy, separation of church and state is a myth perpetrated by secular liberals. “There are two basic facts about man,” he said. “He was created in the image of God, and he is fallen. You can’t appreciate the founding of our country without realizing that the founders understood that. For our kids to not know our history, that could kill a society. That’s why to me this is a huge thing.”

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, meet Don McLeroy - former Chair of the Texas State Board of Education, my mentor, and my liege. It is thanks to Brother Don that I am a middle school science teacher in the Piggett Independent School District. While others mocked my "unaccredited" degree in Young Earth Geology, Brother Don gave me a chance and appointed me to the Textbook Advisory Panel and later found a classroom for me in Piggett.
Last night, Brother Don was defeated in the Republican primary election for his seat on the Board of Education by a so-called "moderate Republican" (i.e., Log Cabin Republican). The Godless Democrats had already stripped him of his chairmanship in 2009, and now God's Only Party is following suit.
I fear that I will no longer be able to devote a significant portion of my class to the study of Genesis and that I will have to take my hand-made marble replicas of the Ten Commandments out of my classroom and back to my living room. I fear that homers, libs, and atheist scum will begin teaching in my district. Above all, I fear for the schoolchildren of Piggett and the rest of the Lonestar State.
Mark my words, rates of fag cancer (aka AIDS) will spike over the coming months as Brother Don becomes a lame duck and the heathens set policy. Abortion will become as cool as Harry Potter, and numerous souls will set forth on a path to perdition.
Brother Don will be all right. He's already Saved. It's the schoolchildren that I worry for... Whither the flock without its shepherd? Pray for Texas Schoolchildren. It's their only hope.

Isaiah 40:31
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
