A pagan's perspective on the treatment of women

Ok, so I see all these threads with people spouting off about The supposed abuse of women. In pagan culture, women are highly revered and to be treated with the utmost respect. That said, why is it that some of these people have such a problem with women who choose to worship their god by being subservient to men? I'm not condoning the unfounded abuse of women for any reason, but they all have a right to choose. If any woman has a problem they have every ability to get up and leave. Even the feminazis who hold standing on their own 2 feet in the highest regard can't seem to wrap their heads around this. No, I don't agree with the beliefs thrown about here of rape victims "asking for it" but that is a different situation alltogether. The women who stay in a relationship that is abusive choose to, with the rare exception of the first instance of abuse being deadly. Most cases are long and drawn out, and there is more than ample opportunity to leave should one choose. Who is anyone else to interfere without being asked? If a woman is being attacked on the street and shouting help, I"ll be the first one to drop a 270 pound boot on a guys head. But if that woman is docillly taking whatever verbal or physical treatment is being given, that is not my place to interferre with her right to choose the manner in which she lives her life/serves her god/gets her jollies.

Well that's the difference between Christians and pagans. Our women do not "have the right to get up and leave." Praise Jesus!

I realize that you believe this pastor, and that was part of my point. They made that choice in continuing to follow the faith and enter into such a marriage. Everyone makes the choice at some point.

Roadgypsy, you sure are wishy-washy. You have a rare gift for not taking a stand. According to you, beating a woman is OK if she . . . what, doesn't move out? Way to make a fist, you tower of jello you.

We True Christians™ who are lucky enough to have a WIFE (someday I hope the Lord re-blesses me with another one) don't beat them, we DISCIPLINE them. Randomly pounding on your slut of a girlfriend because the Raiders lost yet again will certainly send you straight to Hell.

But if a True Christian™ wife needs to be reminded to get dinner on the table at 5:30pm sharp with a firm but fair backhand across the face from her True Christian™ husband, the Lord has no problem with this whatsoever.

He actually put it in His instruction manual for Christians, the KJV 1611.

For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Ephesians 5:23

Re: A pagan's perspective on the treatment of women

Sorry if I was being obtuse, that was the point I was trying to make. I personally don't believe a woman should EVER be struck, particularly over something as insignificant as sports as you suggest. However if a woman chooses to enter into a marriage bound by a faith where she knows there are things she will be disciplined for, it's not right for anyone to tell her she's wrong for accepting or her man is evil for distributing such punishments. All these haters who come onto YOUR forum to spout their venom are hypocrites when they turn around and call some of your other beliefs prejudiced or intolerant. I believe we are all in agreement when I say that by your own teachings you must choose to be saved, and as long as your wives make the choice to accept your god, they make the choice to accept their discipline. Part of why I chose to join the discussions here was because I saw some such hypocracies from other people who have claimed to follow the pagan faith. But those of us who aren't 16 and trying to piss off mommy and daddy understand the true message is live and let live, and chose our faith because we were tired of more domineering religions. There's no point in getting in a huff like so many I have seen here over the way other people choose to worship. Now, as I said before, any woman who asks for help or is the victim of a random attack, I'm right there, but the only way I see any of your women asking for help is if they lost faith in god. I don't believe that to be a very likely scenario, since as I mentioned in my introductions, I admire the conviction and consistency of your teachings and beliefs, even if I don't agree with most of them.

See, Pagan males are all either incredibly fat and pasty and unable to attract a decent girlfriend or scrawny and wimpy. Either way, Pagans allow women to boss them around and belittle them, something the Bible (therefore GOD Himself) is very opposed to!

Satan twists everything, even the natural relationship dynamics between men and women!

Agreed. And Mr. Gypsy, since as you very rightly pointed out, it is OUR forum, so if you could please capitalize any and all referernces to God and Jesus while you are here, that would be great! This includes His, Him, etc, as well as They if you are referring to both God and Jesus or the Trinity of course. I also always capitalize Heaven, Hell, and Satan but not everyone does.

And I will say it again. For a Hellbound witch heathen, you are terribly reasonable and polite.
