I found this odcument on the internet and I was very curious about it. Is all this true, or is some fool mocking us? I wouldn't know, because my church doesn't say as much about how the bible applies to everyday life.


1. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord (Lev.1:9). The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?

3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness (Lev.15:19-24). The problem is, how do tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.

4. Lev. 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?

5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself?

6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination (Lev. 11:10), it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this?

7. (Lev. 21:20) states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here?

8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by (Lev.19:27). How should they die?

9. I know from (Lev.11:6-8) that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves?

10. My uncle has a farm. He violates (Lev. 19:19) by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? (Lev.24:10-16) Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20:14)

I know you all have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help.

All of these claims are backed by scripture, but is it still viable?

Romans 13:1-7 makes it clear that government is ordained by God, and that Christians are bound by secular law. Since slavery and murder are illegal in most countries, we are bound by that.

As far as kosher requirements, they have become optional based upon Peter's vision of Acts 10:10-16. However do not abuse this freedom if it makes a Brother who is weak in faith stumble, as stated in I Corinthians 8:7-13.

Edit: as far as #7, there is no longer a physical alter or temple where God resides where we go to worship. 1 Corinthians 6:19 tells us that our bodies are the temple where the Holy Spirit resides. In His grace and mercy He has come to us, rather than we having to go to a temple and having a priest mediate for us.

Second if you believe every SINGLE thing in the bible is written directly from God, then he himself believe some of the old testament is outdated, and unnecessary since its illegal in our country.
As for the rules, to be a "true christian" you need to follow it all down to the point, and its backed up with scripture, so yes, go ahead and go kill some people. Since that's what God wants and the government is ordained by God.

But to those who will pull out the "but thats not secular law" thing, well then what if it was made a law that you must kill your parents as soon as possible after being born, then kill yourself. Would you still follow it, as if it was God's will? In more plain terms, is it God's will to put on a seat belt every-time, or not smoke in elevators? Why doesn't secular law dictate things that are in the bible? So, I really don't think you are following it, to the point.

Where is you scripture please? The Bible says we should respect the office of the presidency, regardless if whether an idiot is currently occupying it or not. It is not the person that we respect, but the authority from which that person operates (Romans 13:1-7).

Again, your scripture source please? The Bible lays out an hierarchy so that there is not anarchy and confusion. God makes His laws clear (yes), and he ordains secular rulers (yes). There is no contradiction there (Romans 13:1-7). We answers to those whom God ordains, and they answer to Him. If they pass laws contrary to His laws, then we are to obey them but also we are to make every effort that we can to change them within the system. God will judge them for how well they ruled. God will judge us on how well we served.

Why are there bad secular rulers? Sometime it is punish the people for their evils ways. Sometimes it is so that God can destroy the ruler for His glory. Sometimes it is to test our faith and make us stronger. Sometimes it is beyond our temporal understanding.

But the one thing it is not for, is for an excuse to mock God by trying to twist His words. You need scripture AND context. Don't play the game of stringing Matthew 27:5 (And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.) and Luke 10:37 ( . . . And Jesus said to him, "You go, and do likewise.") and John 13:27 . . . (Then said Jesus unto him, That thou doest, do quickly.) as the Bible telling us to all commit suicide. It is obvious that it doesn't work that way.

In addition, a Presidential candidate must have actually lived in the United States for at least 14 years, presumably so that he or she is aware of general issues which impact the American populace.
