I have to step in on this one because of what's been happening in my life. What's the use of a punishment if you don't know what it's for?

I assume you must be having your monthly curse, because what other reason would a True Christian Lady of Landover have to question the word of her superior?

GOD is not obligated to tell us why we're being punished or suffering. Doing so would ruin His master plan of revealing people's sins to them on Judgment Day, after it's too late.

Did GOD tell Job why he and his family were suffering? No.

Did GOD tell the firstborn of Egypt and their parents why they were being slaughtered? No. GOD only provided instructions to the Israelites on how to save their own children from slaughter, because the passover of GOD's angel of death might inadvertently kill them too.

Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel [not Egypt], saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:-Exodus 12:3

So, the use of a punishment you don't know the reason of is to punish you. And strengthen your faith.

Why does anybody need to know why they're punished? GOD knows and that's good enough. Do you think people on the other side of the world of Noah's Ark knew why their homes were suddenly being washed away and their families drowned? I doubt it, but they deserved it anyway, or else GOD would have built an Ark on every continent.
