I've been sickened to the depths of my soul by a lot of what I've read on this board would barely be an apt description. The amount of hate, prejudice, racism, sexism, even jealously- paints an all to telling portrait of the amount of horrible people that inhabit this planet.

So while you sit there anonymously behind your computer and snicker, here are two thoughts that obviously NEVER crossed your narrow minds:

1) Yesterday, parents lost their son, siblings lost their brother, and three children lost their father. And that's incredibly funny, right haters? You're just sitting there behind a computer, yukking it up, and blogging your vile hate anywhere you can post it.

What's your point? Even the most depraved and evil people in the world have families. When Jeffrey Dahmer was executed did you cry because "a mother lost her son?" Or when Adolf Hitler committed suicide, "a sister lost her brother?". What about the terrorists flew into the World Trade Center? Do you mourn every single evil person that dies?

Think what you want, but there isn't a single person on this entire planet whose life would hold up under the kind of microscopic scrutiny that people like Michael Jackson have/had to deal with. Not one person. All those dark little secrets would take on a life of their own in the public spotlight, and you would be the first to cry how the media was "treating you unfairly", 'taking things out of context", and "blowing minor events far out of proportion". But when it happens to someone else, you simply giggle behind your computer monitor and stuff junk food into your mouth.

I even received a text message today from a friend, passing along what she thought was a funny joke about what happened yesterday, forgetting the sadness she herself felt when her own daughter's 19 year old boyfriend was killed by a drunk driver some months ago. Same thing: parents lost their son, siblings lost their brother, a lot of people lost a good friend, and a young person lost the chance to live his life. Her reaction then was how everyone wanted to kill the drunk driver. Today, it's plastic surgery joke. My response was a simple "Not funny...", and I haven't heard back from her since.

At the end of the day, this is an incredibly sad event. And truth be told, I'm not even really that big a fan. I understand his importance both to the entertainment industry and pop culture in general. Having lost family members myself, I can empathize what his parents and siblings must be feeling right now. But it's the bigger picture that truly sickens and saddens me, and all you haters have proven it simply by being yourselves.

All I can say, sincerely, is that I hope- in death- he finds the peace he never found in life.
