honestly, being christian is just fine with me, and I don't usually try to dispute it, but when it gets to the point where one person says someone is a sick faggot who's going to dive head first into the lake of fire, and the next comes in and says "we dont hate you, we hate your sin," the selective reasoning has gone too far

I have no qualms with christianity either, like I stated above, its extremists, such as most of the people on this site, that I have a problem with

Well, we have a problem with people who take Christianity and ruin the original meaning too. That's why we follow a literal understanding of the whole Bible in context. Some other so-called Christians like to pick and choose the parts of the Bible they want to follow, and ignore or "reinterpret" the rest.

I disagree that one can take Christianity "too far". God said that He wants us to be ON FIRE for Him. God hates the lukewarm. He would rather someone be a cold atheist than be a lukewarm Christian (Rev 3:16).

what I meant by "too far" is taking it upon themselves to insult a person for a sin, such as calling the gays "faggots" or "queers" and telling them theyre sick perversions of nature, rather than taking the smart route, and simply warning them of their impending hellfire
a warning and an insult are two completely different things, and most christians today seem to have forgotten that
most also seem to have forgotten to "love the sinner, hate the sin," judging by the way people treat homosexuals

On the contrary, if we didn't love sodomites, we would leave them as they are. It is because we are full of Christian love for our fellow men that we take the time to try and warn them of the wages of sin. As for the issue of terminology, Holy Scripture refers to your kind as abominations, which is hardly PC.

This is a non-sequitur.

They had the J sound back then, but they used the letter I to represent it. Back then, they spelled it Iesus, but they pronounced it the way we pronounce it today. They also didn't have a U back then either, and they used V instead. They spelled "unto" as vnto, but they pronounced it the same way.
