    I've figured it out

With the help of my friend, we have come to a conclusion that makes a lot of sense.

    So...
I know why you all are so gung-ho about the bible. You lack the mental strength to try to understand and accept that you are just a minuscule, tiny dot in the universe, you refuse to accept that your nothing more then that.
You think your life has to have more meaning, and that you have to be worth something more, and you cannot really comprehend the idea that the universe was created in a complex way. You prefer it to be outlined in a few paragraphs in an ancient book.
Now i may sound a little inhuman and mean about the first statement. But dont get me wrong, i believe every person deserves to live and they have their own things to contribute to the world and the universe, but regardless, we are all just, tiny little dots that have no real affect on the universe as a whole.

      Re: I've figured it out

First, grammar nazi: EFFECT, not affect.

So you think Christians are self-aggrandizing and self-deluding folk who need to believe that a "Ruler of the Universe" chose them as His special people?

Instead of choosing, say, the silicon-skeleton crab beings of Gliese IV, or the magnetic-matrix beings of Alternate Universe Omega as His chosen creatures?

What are you, some kind of rationalistical atheist commie?

Listen here, spudcake, God says Christians, specifically Baptists of the Landover Baptist subspecies, are the ONLY CHOSEN BEINGS IN THE ENTIRE FRICKING UNIVERSE. If you want to bitch about it, best take the matter up with God.

The Bible is permeated with one basic idea: that there are God's Chosen People, and everyone else walks contrary to God.

Now, at the time the prophets were revealing God's word to the Isrealites there were a bunch of Chinamen snorking around their rice paddies who had no idea that Jehovah was laying down His law for all mankind. They all went to Hell.

There were a bunch of Americans -- from the ones spearing walrus in the Bering Sea to the ones farming coca in the Andes -- who had never heard of any God handing out commandments from a sort of divine kiosk on Mount Sinai. They all went to Hell, too.

The Bible stands on the concept of a singular God who rules the entire cosmos, who revealed Himself to Abraham as a burning shrub, and who later came down to Earth as a carpenter in the Middle East.

The island-hopping natives of the South Pacific, meanwhile, colonized Tahiti, Hawaii, and Easter Island without ever having a hint that God exists. Predictably, they all went to Hell.

Now then! What you seem to be saying is that Christianity is ethnocentric in the sense that it asserts a cosmic God revealed Himself not to humanity at large but rather to a "limited subset of superstitious fruitcakes" (as the noted atheist Mungo Pinbottle said). And Christians are egocentric in believing that they nestle like little hamsters in the palm of God's hand while everyone else is ignorant and stupid and contrary and, predictably again, damned to Hell.

Well, that IS JUST YOUR OPINION! We know we are better than you because we have God's salvation and YOU don't.

So there. Just think about that next time you see a Christian proclaiming his love for Christ on television or in a newspaper article or in a radio spot stumping for a righteous Christian politician.

Explain to me why this all powerful god would only tell the the people of one tiny little part of the world that he exists, and damn the rest to hell? I mean what did they do to deserve to go to tell for the rest of forever? They didnt choose to be born there.
And sorry for the grammar error there, completely a mistake of habit.

Humanity is damned to Hell because Adam turned his back on God when Adam let Eve forced him to eat that apple in the Garden. Since all those American-Indians, Tahitians and Chinamen know perfectly well this a God their damnation is their choice. They could have chose to go to Mt Sinai and get the word of God along with Moses but instead they'd rather hunt walrus or what not.

Time to reclaim our FREEDOM from the “Mullah in Chief” and his growing activist voter hoards of socialists, communists, anti-Semites, anti-Christians, atheists, radical gays and lesbians, feminists, illegal immigrants, Muslims, anti-Anglo whites and others.

Oh right, the American Indians will just jump in their canoes and paddle all the way to Asia, then walk all the way to Mt. Sinai, because of some strange compelling force that they need to go listen to god.
Right, you actually believe that to be true?

Since they started out in that part of the world they could have well turned around and gone back. They clearly went to America to get away from God.

Do you honestly believe that the omnipotent creator of the universe could NOT put it in the hearts of those Godless subhuman creatures the desire to go to Mount Sinai?

Really, now, you're just being silly.

God, who created the entire universe and everything in it, including stars billions of light-years away, cleverly creating the light en route so it'd be visible right away on Earth, and all in SIX DAYS, is unable to whisper in the ear of some Injun?

Those books are fiction; you are not supposed to assume that they are fortelling the future. Maybe you should spend some more time paying attention to what REALLY goes on in the world and not just shoving your nose into some nerdy escapist science fiction. Pick up a Bible, you ninny!

And the Holy Bible tells us what will happen if we reject Christ's gift of temporary suffering and death.

                              Re: I've figured it out

Well, now, let's think about this, Ayerea.

It would seem that if Christians think that God revealed Himself in a parochial, limited way -- offering salvation to mankind through a provincial politico-religious passion play featuring tribal ninnies in a rather insignificant subdivision of the Roman Empire -- then it would be logical to suppose that the God in question is pretty small beans.

But no religion has ever been revealed to mankind as a whole. Buddha went around sitting under Bo trees instead of English yews or American holly trees because he never made it to England or North America. The sayings of Confucius didn't make a lick of difference to the Australian aborigines. Quetzalcoatl was as meaningless to the Turks as he was to the Vikings, and Wotan was persona non gratis in the jungles of the Congo.

Wicca, Satanism, Scientology, Momonism, Hinduism, Shinto, Helicopterism, the Church of Mungo the Divine -- all of 'em play to limited audiences.

On the other hand, gravitation reveals itself everywhere. You are putting up a student-style bookcase, you drop a cinderblock on your foot, and you know gravity is real. It revealeth itself to all mankind without scruple or prejudice.

But Christians believe that God is not only as real as gravitation, He is BIGGER and STRONGER than any natural force! And if you disagree forcefully enough...well, in 1696 Thomas Aikenhead was hanged for saying openly that he thought Christianity was nonsense.

And today? Here are the words of some modern Christian men.

The long-term goal of Christians in politics should be to gain exclusive control over the franchise. Those who refuse to submit publicly to the eternal sanctions of God by submitting to His Church's public marks of the covenant--baptism and holy communion--must be denied citizenship, just as they were in ancient Israel.
The Revelation speaks powerfully today, and its message to us is the same as it was to the early Church: that "there is not a square inch of ground in heaven or on earth or under the earth in which there is peace between Christ and Satan;" that our Lord demands universal submission to His rule; and that He has predestined His people to victorious conquest and dominion over all things in His name. We must make no compromise and give no quarter in the great battle of history. We are commanded to win.
Man cannot seek co-existence with evil without thereby declaring war against God. ...The more total the peace desired, the more total the warfare required. The new creation of Jesus Christ is the end result of His total warfare against a fallen world; it requires the permanent suppression of evil in hell.
Only Christians should be citizens. Christians are destined for victorious conquest and dominion over all things. Christians are engaged in total warfare against everyone else.

Why, I believe that Reverend North and Reverend Chilton might very well applaud the hanging of Thomas Aikenhead even today! Shout GLORY! (Except that Chilton is dead. But perhaps he would applaud in his grave.)

And RIGHTLY SO! Those who MOCK and DERIDE Christianity are the enemies of God Himself! They are the hatefilled minions of the Evil One, the sockpuppets of the Devil, Old Scratch, Satan, the Most Fallen, Lucifer, and the Father of Lies!

O, I pray that you come a-running straight into the arms of the sickly-sweet Savior just as fast as your canny gams can trot! YES, Lord Jesus, pour down Your flood of SALVATION right on top of Ayerea's pointy little haid. Do it NOW, Lord! Flood her beady little eyerballs with the GLOWRIOUS light of Your great goodness and beatific bountiful beauteosity!

Make her ears positively ring with the sound of fifty-thousand or so angels singing antiphonal praises in xenharmonic 17-tone disharmony! Yessir! If that don't get her attention, ain't nothing going to do it!

                              Amen.
