It really depends on the person, and their beliefs.
Let me just make this clear for y'all to actually understand for once...
For example, if someone is gay or lesbian and they're Christian, which means they believe in Jesus Christ and He is their Savior, plus repenting of their sins, God will "forgive" them, which means (for the repenter), that they are guilty and feel bad of the sins they've committed. Plus, God forgives everyone, and he knows how they feel.
In addition to that, God does not want His children to go to hell. Neither does Jesus. That's why God sent His only Son to die on the cross for our sins so that we may have eternal life in heaven with our God and Lord.
As a matter of fact, it is false doctrine to say God or Jesus hates a certain group of people who have different feelings in life. That is the stupidest lie to say to someone when they already have grace in their life. As well as saying people who're homosexuals are going to hell for who they are.
It's not what humans say, it's what God has given us in His Word.

Read a little bit past John 3:16 for once, will you?

John 3:18-20 "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved."

Does that sound like God is endorsing universal salvation to you?

Honestly, if even a foul, non-believing atheist can look at the clearly presented words of the Bible and understand what it really means-- instead of being mired in a bastardized, sanitized, feel-good cuddly cocoon gospel of modern invention
--than why, oh why, can't people who feel the need to call themselves Christians do the same?

People are so happy to be deluded. That's why churches are so crowded.

Didymus will eventually be struck down for not believing in God. He'll be surprised, because he thinks that God is not real. But at least he won't be whining about how he tried his best to serve God by being a "good person" who showed people all the tolerance and acceptance that Jesus did.

And until such time as God strikes him down-- or until people stop whining-- we will tolerate his presence because God can use him. But we will never accept the idea that his sins will be overlooked by a just and perfect God. Nor will we accept that homosexual acts are not sins. Because that is NOT what the Bible preaches! And people who say otherwise are fools for calling themselves Christians!

Like, to me...I do know that Scripture tells us we have a everlasting loving God. But my inspiration is understanding as humans, why we need to comprehend each others' feelings and boundaries. As well as knowing what to do in order to solve the conflict in a reasonable way; not cause violence or hate because -- there are people who are different. It's that easy to understand.

So, basically, your entire faith is made up of cherry picking the bits of the Bible that can be used to make your own opinion have some special pleading to divinity to make it beyond debate but steadfastly ignoring all the bits that seem harsh or unfair or totally blow your own opinion out of the water.

God loves us, sure, if we follow His commandments and believe in Him without question. God tells us to not be gay or that we deserve death if we choose to be gay. That stoning people to death is illegal at the moment is a stumbling block to His grace, I'll admit, but, at the very least, shunning gays and reminding them that they are choosing Hell seems reasonable in the circumstances.
