Interesting you guys have that view on people like myself with that opinion, I have to say I agree with almost none of it! But thanks for the info. Why is it you have these views on atheists? Genuine question, I'm not looking for a fight!

I'm new to this forum and thought I'd introduce myself. First off, I'm an atheist, someone with an opinion that doesn't seem to go down well here! But never mind, I'm here for a few simple reasons

1. I'm curious about your version of Christianity
2. I enjoy talking to people with contrasting viewpoints
3. I'm not here to poke fun, argue or tell you you're wrong or try and 'convert' you.


Feel free to ask me anything, I'll be honest and open.

2) It's always interesting to learn the view of others. These folk don't sugar coat their views so much, though.
3) I don't know, I can't help but engage in debate with some of the topics around here.

As to questions, I'd be far more interested in hearing about the pilot thing and how you came to do that. I once wanted to be a pilot more than anything. Hard for women to break into that field though.

But I suspect that these folk wouldn't appreciate the derailing.

Hi there, wasn't expecting so many non-Christians to be on here if I'm honest! As to the pilot thing, well unfortunately is is somewhat difficult for girls still, my fiancée is a pilot too and she comes up against guys who think she shouldn't be a pilot because of her gender. In fact my captain today (I am a first officer on the Airbus A320) was a woman, and I prefer them (fewer hang-ups). It's not impossible, and the more women that do it, the better.

I wanted to fly because it was my dream as a child. Worked through the licenses and kept going, despite setbacks. You keep hacking long enough, you'll get there...regardless of belief

No, it isn't. It has never been a Protestant church. If you look back to the foundations of that abomination of an institution, it was no more than a bunch of catholics with the king as head of the church rather than the pope. What has happened since is that some of them are "high church" = catholic, some are "low church" = the sort of people who hug each other and speak in tongues, and the majority are in the middle. They believe in nothing at all apart from church as a social occasion and the only person they are protesting against is Jesus.

I'm glad to hear that! It's always encouraging to hear about more female pilots. I suppose like any previously male dominated field, all it takes is time before its more common, like with women in medicine. I'd ask what Airline you fly for, but I suspect that's too much information to put on a public forum.

Ha ha! I've never been called buster before. Well, I'm sorry if you deemed that disrespectful, certainly no disrespect was intended, and I hope you weren't upset by it. And thank you, I've read the bible, as an ex-Christian I've read from cover to cover (something I'm rather proud of)

I'm only here because I'm curious, I'm not trying to prove anything or 'convert' anyone. I'm curious because I'm an ex-Christian, and the American baptist church is different to the church les of my experience. Any offence was unintentional
