If exegetics is true, then we can never know which parts of the Bible to trust and the only logical conclusion is that we cannot trust any of it.

Great post. I frequently find myself banging my head against a brick wall trying to elucidate this point to cherry pickers. As soon as you concede that a single passage of the Bible could possibly be wrong/misinterpreted/mistranslated, you turn the whole thing into a pious paperweight.

Well I've read it before, but starting again from the beginning. I've so much to learn!

It's not all your fault, considering the papist influences almost every mick has to deal with. But it's time to let go of the myth of Jesus. He was not a sissy, oh how I love Me kind of guy. God's son was a muscly, rough and tumble stone mason with a penchant for tossing idiots out of the temple and sending satan to burn in everlasting fire. And just think: this same Jesus loves YOU enough to miraculously put you in touch with His Favorite Forums. This is no coincidence, missy. This is the mighty, nail-pierced Hand of our Savior leading you to Salvation(R).

What more do you want Him to do? Shove you down on your knees and force His Love upon you? Wouldn't you rather surrender willingly to His Gift of Life Everlasting? As you read His Holy Word, be sure to pray without ceasing. Ask the Holy Spirit to teach you as you read. And take time to shut up and let Him be God, so He can speak to you. Don't lean unto your own understanding, but allow the LORD GOD to be the perfect author that He is.

This should be so simple, even for someone with Irish roots. Now that gay marriage is permissible in so much of the world, the wrath of GOD is going to be bearing down on those that do not serve Him. If you want Him to love you, you're going to have to knock three times on the ceiling of Glory, or twice on the pipe of perdition if you're going to settle for Hell.

2. Read that Matthew verse again.

Does it say anything about cutting off body parts of anyone but yourself?

3. How is that Bible reading going? Have you gone past Numbers yet?

Although I'm not about to go on a crime spree but just wondering more along the lines of Matthew 5-30;

'And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee'

What if it's the hand of someone else, and they are not able to cut it off themselves (if they are disabled or something), do I do it for them? For the sake of their own salvation?

That's very easy, sweetie.

God provided you with a Life Instruction Manual - it's called the Holy Bible.

Just read it and follow it, it really is that easy!

About crimes - remember that God wants you to follow the laws of the land where you live, too (1 Peter 2:13). As you can see, the Bible has the right answer to every possible question you might have!
