Because they don't know what the Bible says about praying. They've listened to preachers and priests tell them what the Bible says, and never bothered to read it through, because each time they tried to they came across stuff they questioned, and that made them start to doubt the truth of the whole thing, so they stopped and put those voices away in a box in the corner of their minds lest they imperil their Salvation(tm).
Because (drum roll...) that's what the Koran says. Just for hilarity's sake, their opposition has the same justification.
Of course, it all depends which hadith (collections of hearsay and addenda to Mo's revelation, which was itself assembled from hearsay and addenda, because oh yeah dude was illiterate) your sect has determined to be obviously the True and Inspired Words of God, and which ones are patently misguided fanfic.
