The KJV1611 is not a "remake", as you call it. King James was called upon by God to have the Bible translated into English, to wrest control of the (then only in Latin and Greek) Word of God from the Catholic Church. His scribes were supervised by God in the translation of His Word.

Now, you say that all that matters is understanding the meaning behind the words. OK, but when the words change, the meaning is different too.

The "translators" of the New Infidel Version decided to simply DROP scores of verses that they didn't like.

Here is an excellent article on the subject of the NIV: http://www.biblebelievers.com/williams_d1.html

And a heap of other articles on the subject of Bible versions:

Meanwhile, this is my favorite article on the subject of KJV vs. NIV: http://temcat.com/NIV-KJV.htm

And I include this passage from the beginning of the article as a sample:

I get no scarcity of questions on the Bible. These questions come by phone—many by long distance, by visitors, and by mail. Many of the questions are regarding the confusing flood of new versions of the Bible. This is especially true in respect to the New International Version, commonly referred to as the NIV. Seeing the NIV is now being urged by many, I am repeatedly asked why I do not also advocate the use of the NIV version and use it in my work of soulwinning.

As I believe it is my duty to give an answer, I will endeavour to pass on some clear and straight-forward reasons why I do not use the NIV, and never intend to use the NIV, in place of the time-honoured and sure King James Version.

Here is Luke 4:4 in the King James Version. In the NIV the underlined words are cut out:
Luke 4:4 "And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God."
Luke 4:4 is not the only place where parts of the Word of God have been cut out. There are literally hundreds of omissions in the NIV.

This omission in Luke 4:4 makes the statement of Jesus of little sense. "But by every word of God." Now we have it. The Scriptures are to stay. The Word of God is to feed us. We are to live by the Scriptures. Here Jesus is in conflict with the devil and in this statement our Lord is revealing the efficient weapon against sin and Satan.

Is it not significant that this very mutilated version of Scripture cuts out the very passage that condemns it. This omitted passage condemns the NIV!

Note again that our Divine Guide is showing that man is to live by "every word of God." If "every word" is vital and we need "every word" what can be said in favour of a professed version that omits a whole verse? Not only that but omits scores of passages. I will never use in my work a mutilated version, no matter how popular it may be. The "Scripture of Truth" closes with these important words:-
Rev 22:19 "And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."
I would fear to stand before the judgment bar of God, if I knowingly had used and upheld a version that had taken away from the Word of God.

We should remember also that this solemn warning against taking "away from the words" of God’s Holy Book is given by none other than our Lord Himself.
Have a look at these articles. Or google "KJV vs NIV". You'll find dozens more articles on the subject, all of them roundly condemning the NIV.

Sorry, Charlie. The Bible says not to add to or remove from it, and that's just what those NIV revisionists did. Conveniently, they revised to a version nearly identical to that used by Jehovah Witnesses, who deny the Divinity of Jesus!

The church you claim to attend says the following:

The Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is God's revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy. It reveals the principles by which God judges us, and therefore is, and will remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. All Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation.
How, then, can this church support using a "version" which cuts out scores of entire verses?!

(Oh, wait, you didn't actually READ the website before saying you went there, did you?)

You're own words shine the truth on your foul lies. You are no True Christian™. A True Christian™ would know the Bible, and you don't even know the Commandments.

      Exodus
20:1 And God spake all these words, saying,

20:2 I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

20:3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

      20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

20:6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

20:7 Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

      20:13 Thou shalt not kill.

20:14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.

      20:15 Thou shalt not steal.

20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

20:17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

These are God's commandments! You'd do well to learn them and to live them! Enough of your friends who have recently joined this forum break enough of these on a daily basis (oh, the "artists" and their graven images). If you want to pretend to be a True Christian™, next time take at least a cursory glance at the source material. But there'd better not be a next time, mocker of God.

        Re: Hey

Okay, sorry, didn't know that On Your Knees. Really did not.

And I have another question that I really do not know. When I read this I was a little perplexed.

God makes it quite clear that musical instruments, when not played by one of His angels, can be twisted into tools of the Devil, and by their very operation can do great evil against our LORD. If I were you, I'd toss that trumpet onto a bonfire and pick up a Bible instead!
This was made by Virginia D. Templeton on the first page. If instruments can be twisted into forms of the Devil, then why did he give it to us to make on Earth instead of keeping it in Heaven?

If God did not provide the means for temptation, then He would have no way to determine who would keep His commandments and who would not.

                      Think about it.

God put Adam and Eve into the Garden of Eden. There he put the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, and the Tree of Life. He told them not to eat of either, yes? He told them that if they ate of those trees, they would surely die.

Eve listened to a talking serpent, who told her that if she ate of the tree, she'd become wise and know right from wrong.

Yes, that means that until that point, Eve did not know right from wrong. She didn't know that disobeying God was wrong. She was unable to know, as she was truly and perfectly innocent.

So, she went ahead, so did Adam, and you know how it went from there.

Clearly, God provided the trees as temptation, as He already had eternal life and the knowledge of good and evil. Why else would He need to create such trees, other than to tempt His creation?

It's the same with musical instruments and everything else. They exist to provide tests of our faith, to see how we will use them. Will we use them to glorify God, or Satan? The choice is yours.
