    Hello

Hello. I live in Florida, and I guess you could call me a seeker. I've been reading the boards for a few days and finally decided to register. I think I have a lot to learn here.

My favorite line from Scripture is Acts 17:30

Welcome! Do you attend church? if so, which denomination?

My favorite line from Scripture is Acts 17:30
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent

Amen! However, I have a small issue with your use of the word "line". Unlike the randy, drunken unsaved masses, God does not use lines. The proper terminology is verse.

That said, it is a very good verse indeed!

      Re: Hello

Hi Mrs. Rogers. Thanks for the help with the terminology. I was sure I was going to get something wrong - that's why I left out the words and just gave the chapter and verse number - - I appreciate the push in the right direction!

I only went to church with my grandparents a few times - the last time was 9 years ago. They went to a Baptist Church and I just want to follow in their path. I have been watching Olive Baptist Church on tv since then and have health issues that limit my mobility. I am really looking forward to interacting with other people - on the internet is a great way for me to do it!

Welcome to God's favorite forum. Please tell us about yourself.

How old are you? What church do you attend? What kind of name is "Emek?"

          Re: Hello

Hello, Pastor. I sadly am unable to attend church in person due to a disability. I don't want to go into many details right now, but I am hopeful that I will find a supportive group and will gladly share my details if/when I get to know more people here. (I can tell you that my disability is NOT due to the sin of sloth, and that I am currently in my 36th year of mortal life.) Anyway, I am only able to watch Olive Baptist Church on tv - I'm not sure if that is even acceptable, but right now it's the best I can do.

I figured I would get asked about the name - there is a personal significance there. When my Grandma would get upset she sometimes mentioned the Valley of Jehosephat and towards the end of her life she started to... just get senile she had gotten old. We had a great day together a few weeks before she passed, and I mentioned the Valley of Jehosephat and she replied: Emek B. Racca (I don't even know if that's how it's spelled) - but she just had a look of joy and peace in her eye that I won't forget - it made me laugh right then. Not laugh at her, but just felt full of laughter - joy I guess. That was 9 years ago and I have been calling myself that since then. (I can also assure you that the name is not because my mom was named Emily and my dad was named Derek, and they came up with my name by mixing their two names together.) I have had people ask me before if that was the case.

I'm sorry to have been so long with my reply, Pastor. I noticed your impressive list of medals. Where can I look to learn about some of those, if you don't mind my asking.

If you pass your cursor over the medals, you will see what they were awarded for.

How old are you? I can't even tell which gender you are.

Hi, Pastor. Read what I wrote - I'm 36. Of course I'm crippled, what do you think "mobility issues" means? I was shot in the spine by a piece of scum, and believe it or not, I pray that such an event never happens to you. And I'm fully aware that God Hates Cripples. It's sort of an all-day everyday thought that never goes away. I could give you some great quotes for your next Sermon on God's Hatred of Cripples, and I'm not being sarcastic or cynical. If you still think God's hatred of me will preclude my participation on this site, I will gladly go away forever.

As long as you know your place, things should be fine. I like a person who knows where they stand in God's loving eyes.

That won't be necessary. I think you've got it covered.

Why do you not pray to Jesus to get healed? Matthew 6:6 "But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly."

                      Re: Hello

I do pray to Jesus to be healed, sir. I am not sure if I will be healed. I am battling thoughts that I may never be healed, and relegated to a cursed life. It has been this way for many years, and now I wonder if I should resist the urge to accept my cursed fate.
However, I shall always be a servant to The Lord And Savior Jesus Christ, even if I am never allowed to return to His flock.

No, not cured yet. On Friday, I tried to prostrate myself in front of The Lord in prayer. I could not get up for 48 hours, or even reach my wireless mouse. God does hate me.

Have you considered that your faith just isn't strong enough?

                              James 5:15

And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven.
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.
