While Tertius may be a gentile/Roman name, are you not just making the assumption that he is not of Jewish stock? Can provide a quote from your special book to clarify this point.

The Romans were not adverse to marrying the people from the lands they occupied, so even if his father had been a Roman there is nothing to preclude the possibility that his Mother was of Hebrew origin thus making Tertius Jewish in the eyes of the Hebrews.

I am used to dealing with retards of all types; pastafarians, homeless people, teenagers living on the streets with next to no idea about the wonders of God, Democrats and those with other sick perversions... so I try to be as patient as possible.

I often wonder why he spends so much time here, on a Christian Forum - God's FAVORITE Forum no less, and troll. Obviously his dedication to a plate of pasta and meatballs is lacking and as such he realizes it is all a lie (subconsciously) but his conscious thoughts will just not allow him to accept this reality.

So he plucks at straws trying all he can to try and find the smallest thing wrong with the KJV1611. I pity him and all I can do is pray that he finally sees the light and realizes Jesus IS the ONLY way!

But it is our lot, I suppose, to suffer for our faith. Such is the case with Lazarus in John Chapter 11. Lazarus was very sick, but before he died Jesus said "This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it." (Jn. 11:2-4).

Later, in John 11:45, we read that " many of the Jews who had come to visit Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, put their faith in him." We also read in John 12:11 that many believed on the Lord Jesus Christ BECAUSE OF LAZARUS. Had Lazarus not suffered and died, these people may never have come to know the Lord Jesus Christ.

Thus, though you have tolerated for two days now the heathen barbs of this arrogant atheist, even if you do not save him who knows how many countless others have wandered in and were convinced by you kind and thoughtful words, so very clearly reflecting the love of Christ.

Jo Freddi, heed the words of our Sister in Christ and turn back from your atheism and your lust and your drunkenness before it is too late!

Sister Phebe, I think I would have a lot to add to the Bible Study Group. I love reading the Bible, but I don't always have the time I like. When I was younger I would get deep into a different passage every day but as I am getting older I am lucky if I get to explore the ins and outs of a new passage once a week, praise Jesus!

Let me rephrase it for you Alex. (Alex, short form of Alexander. Russian form Alek. Latinized form of the Greek name Αλεξανδρος (Alexandros))

Here are the appropriate verses from Romans 16.

It is my contention that if you read Romans 16 and take it literally, as we are told to take the Bible by the "true christians," these verses tell us that Romans 16 was written by Tertius and that he was a kinsman of Andronicus, Junia, Herodion, Lucius, Jason and Sosipater.

It is Phebe's contention that Tertius can not be their kinsman as he is a Roman and they are Jewish.

I refute this contention on the grounds that the only indication of Tertius's ethnicity is his name. Going by the origins of the names in question only Sosipater is of Hebrew origin, the others are of Roman or Greek origin. Now putting aside Tertius's ethnicity for a moment, it clearly states that Andronicus, Junia, Herodion, Lucius, Jason and Sosipater are kinsmen, this shows that you can not use the ethnic origins of their name to deduce their actual ethnicity.

Here is a breakdown of the ethnic origin of each name:
