    Sobre me

I am sixteen, a fan of proper grammar and intelligence, and agnostic. Raised as the daughter of a Christian and a Jew, I was baptized, but came to reject Christianity for a personal definition.
I do not take the Bible verbatim, but as a symbolic explanation of the world.
    Science> Bible.
I think the literal interpretation of the bible is limiting people and their interactions with God and the world.
There's nothing interesting about looking perfect.

You will, however, take Satan's fiery fist up your rectum in Hell 100% verbatim!
Jud 1:15 To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are unGodly among them of all their unGodly deeds which they have unGodly committed, and of all their hard [speeches] which unGodly sinners have spoken against him.

Well isn't that nice for you. Why are you here if you hate Jesus so much? This is a Christian forum.

Enjoy hell. By the way, Jesus and I can't wait to watch you burn in hell for all eternity. Oh, how we'll laugh at you as you scream in agony! Shout Glory!!

You might be good at grammar, but your Spanish leaves a bit to be desired. I think you must have meant "Pobre Yo"
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

What parts are "symbolic or metaphorical"? Who gets to decide?
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

Jones-- I'd say genesis is symbolic and any part about morals is literal.
It's up to the individual to decide, and to use logic.
Hutchins-- I'm completely white, as seen by my picture. But yes, my father is CATHOLIC. Spun from the same thread as Christianity.
Kirkeholm-- I'd like to ask you the same thing. Indication of intelligence is an acceptance of science. Rejection of science would be an indication of ignorance. Just like I wouldn't argue with a theologian or devout Christian about the content and organization of the Bible, why would you argue with a scientific expert about science?

Intelligence/Wisdom can only be gained by fearing God:

                  Psalm 111:10
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.

You say that science>Bible. Science was created by humans. Humans are fallible and generally stupid. God is all knowing:

                  Psalm 147:5
Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.

And therefore He is smarter than any scientist. So why would you choose to listen to a scientist over someone who knows everything? Moreover, who knows best how the universe works? Some stupid human or God who created it? Science is just a waste of time. Even if there exist science that isn't in violation with the Bible (and therefore wrong) nobody needs to know about it. If it were important God would have made sure to write about it in the Bible. I don't like to blow my own horn all that much but you should take a look at the thread I have linked to in my signature. You will find that people who don't fear God are incapable of logical reasoning.

God didn't personally write the Bible. He would have directed his disciples to do so. Personally, I think that humans create religion. But this is something that I won't convince you of. I had an argument with my grandmother, when I compared science to religion. She said that humans created religion, and science was based on fact. According to you, humans created science, and religion is based on fact. Quite frankly, I think that both are based on a faith in something one cannot see and an attempt to understand how the world was created. They are cut from the same cloth, and neither are infallible because, you're right, humans cannot know everything.

Wonderful, so you believe in scourging and killing people for fornicating with a slave or a betrothed woman. That's a start, I suppose.

What about Exodus? What have you logically decided for yourself on that? Did Moses not really turn his staff into a snake that ate the staff snakes of the Egyptians?

What about the story of Jericho? Did the walls really fall from the trumpet blasts or is that not logical?

What about the New Testament? Was Jesus really born of a virgin and did He really rise from death and preach again after His death or is that all symbolic as well?

Well, you are right about the fact that God didn't personally write the Bible. But he basically used people as pencils since he gave some people divine inspirations:

                        2 Timothy 3:16
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

I like that you think that science is based on faith instead of fact. I think that we here at Landover might be able to save your soul so that you can go to Heaven with us But you must remember that the KJV contains the Word of God and since he is infallible we do know the Truth about the orgin of the world. It was created by God in six days (seven if you count the day that he rested).

Those would not be the morals I'm referring to. I'm referring to the ten commandments, which preach that one shouldn't commit adultery, steal, dishonor parents, or kill.

Exodus--an anecdote that communicates greater moral. it's symbolic.

                          Jericho-- the same.

New Testament-- while Jesus existed, he was not the product of an immaculate conception,as I see it. He did not rise from death. These too are symbolic.

That's four commandments. What about the other six?

                              From Exodus 20...
3Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
                              5Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
6And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
7Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
8Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

Do you believe God is going to return to judge mankind? Do you believe in Heaven and hell?
