    Hi all, from England

    Good afternoon dudes and dudettes,

I am an atheist (that's probably not a good start, eh!) who has just discovered this forum today.

Despite being an atheist, I am fascinated by religion and the religious (no condescension intended), in particular the various lifestyles adopted as a result. I've browsed a few sub-forums here and was intrigued by certain subjects that are very relevant to me (due to age and lifestyle) in the discussion of which I have heard a wide variety of views. One of these is video-gaming, but I don't want to start a debate about that just now.

I'm here for open discussion by the way, so please go easy on me .

My main question is: what caused you to become religious and how has it influenced your life?

    Cheers, Pogo.

You have to ask what caused us to become religious? The answer is obvious, Jesus. His Father of course caused everything.

The only reason I can see for your being atheist is that you have never opened a 1611 King James Bible. Not opening a bible is not going to help you save your soul from eternal damnation, nor become a True Christian™.
My main question is: what caused you to become religious and how has it influenced your life?

Welcome to our friendly forum, although you may not realise it, Jesus has brought you here for a very special reason.

What kind of rhyme-y chink name is Pogo by the way, what are you, some kind of slant? I guess that's why you are part of that ridiculous cult of atheism, asians won't listen to the loving Word of GOD given in the KJV. Don't worry, by finding us you are one of the lucky ones.

I became religious because my parents were religious, I was fortunate to be brought up by Christian parents who used a concept I call "helpful-discipline" to keep me on the path of the LORD, beating and abusing me if the devil tried to convince me to stray off. I have always been a strong Christian, and I will ensure my children also join me in Heaven through being even better than my parents were at disciplinary tactics, backhand slapping and punching, throttling and waterboarding them into Jesus's open arms .

A woman came up to me the other day, 12/6/2016 and said:
"But Mr. Winner, if GOD loves everyone then why is there so much suffering in the world?"

Because GOD doesn't love everyone. Too many people have this absurd idea in their heads that GOD is all loving.
If he was all loving, then murderers, thieves and homosexuals would be waiting for you in Heaven.

GOD doesn't open his gate to just anyone. Being a True Christian™ is like a Queue Jump ticket at Disney, we are guaranteed a ride with JESUS.

I apologise if my alias offends you, WinnerNotSinner, it's not my real name of course

Also, I assume from the replies in this thread that this is not a place for discussion of beliefs other than True Christianity.

Perhaps my initial post was not clear. I did not intend the word "atheist" to come across so strongly. As you can see, I don't fully understand all of this and that's what I'm here for; to learn and understand.

Perhaps calling myself "agnostic" would fit my position better. I am not anti-religious in any way; In fact I am quite open to it.

If you can make me believe, then do so.

Your children are really lucky to have a True Christian as a father, who shows them the way to Jesus!
Luke 15:7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.

Friend, our True Christian scientists have already proved that everyone deep down knows that God exists and they just don't want to admit it because they're scared of dealing with the implications. I'm glad to see that, in your short time here, we've already managed to get you to back down from claiming to be an atheist to being an agnostic, and I look forward to welcoming you into our congregation in the near future.
O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it--for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen.

God being truth, justice, goodness, beauty, power, and life, man is falsehood, iniquity, evil, ugliness, impotence, and death. God being master, man is the slave. Incapable of finding justice, truth, and eternal life by his own effort, he can attain them only through a divine revelation... he who desires to worship God must harbor no childish illusions about the matter, but bravely renounce his liberty and humanity.

I was lucky enough to be born into a True Christian™ family. One of the first things I learned as a young child was that people who disobey God go to Hell when they die. The fear of Hell is great motivation to act and think the way that God want us to.

If only all parents told their children about the dangers of disobeying God from an early age. Then every child could be conditioned in such a way so that they would grow up to be a True Christian™. When I get kids I will show them this video every single day so that the fear of Hell can be a big motivational factor whenever they are to make a decision in life
              To the atheists:

              To the false christians:

Feel like pissing off God? Perhaps this will change your mind:

              Hosea 13:16
Samaria shall become desolate; for she hath rebelled against her God: they shall fall by the sword: their infants shall be dashed in pieces, and their women with child shall be ripped up.

Do you know what God says about you? He says that you're a fool.

Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

God also says that you do wierd things with yourself. Is that true?

Ecclesiastes 4:5 The fool foldeth his hands together, and eateth his own flesh.

                  Re: Hi all, from England

It is wonderful to see you here - GOD drew you here, the most holy place on the internet - the equivalent to Jerusalem of the internet.

Being a fellow Brit (not something to brag about, except King James was a True Christian - and NOT gay - lies of the atheists), I hope you and I can share true instruction in the way of the LORD.

I would happily share prayer meetings with you, so you can find the truth, and hopefully I can fill you with...the holy spirit.

So where do you live - I am blessed to live in Birmingham - easy to reach the deepest, darkest regions in Britain.

I really believe you have come here to make a choice - I just know you have come here to learn the truth, that GOD enters everyone who are ready to receive him.

                  Hopefully, I am GOD's agent.

                    Hello!
I live in the Uk, Wales to be precise!
I used to go to church every week. I would sing in the church choir and help out. And for a while i even thought of becoming a pastor.
But then i started college. Studying Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Computing and Maths.
It became clear that, although some of the messages about how to live are worthwile, the Bible wasn't for me.
A friend of mine, knowing my interest in peoples faith, turned me on to this site, and i have been shocked by the bigotry i had found. I though Christianity was a forgiving religion, with a forgiving god.
And why does god only love white americans? i don't understand that.
                    Peace out

God only forgives those who beg for forgiveness. And not everything can be forgiven: Matthew 12:31 "Blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men."

And why does god only love white americans? i don't understand that.
Because America is God's chosen country and also because Jesus is white as well: Revelation 1:14 "His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire."
5 Reasons why GOD HATES WOMEN!
To most "Christians" The Bible is like a license agreement. They just scroll to the bottom and click "I agree". All those "Christians" will burn in Hell!
James 2:10 "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all."

I see. If I was growing up surrounded by the hellishness of Wales, I would be tempted by atheism too. But rest assured, God has a plan, even if it may not be immediately obvious when you look at Wales.

As Brother Cranky has already explained, you can only forgive someone who repents. Our God is a forgiving God - why, He's even forgiven me for having been Jewish in the past! But that isn't the same as just pretending that everything is always fine.
And why does god only love white americans? i don't understand that.
He doesn't. He just loves those who follow His commands. It just so happens that a disproportionate amount of His followers happen to be white Americans. That's hardly Christianity's fault.
