I ain't ever read a science book, ever. Just because you have bad parents who won't give you the proper and necessary homeschooling a child needs, it doesn't mean you have to read science books. The way I look at it is would I rather have bad grades or deal with temptations of the Devil that could lead to the wrath of God? Easy one! Bad grades.
