Fatimah, you do know about Jesus already. He was one of your profhets, remember. OK, you didn't think of him as your Saviour, but he surely is in the Qu'ran. Isah, IIRC.

I'm not saying this is a highly tolerant country. And I don't think there are many on the planet. Yet it is democratic by definition. And you can imagine it probably was not a very easy job for Ataturk to build a secular-democratic system to replace a monarchy ruled by sharia laws. The trick was to take his core idea of freedom, secularity, democracy and take it further, which did not happen. The military created their own religion which has become Ataturk.
