Thus, the question arises: how do we know that our religion is the right one if they follow theirs with equal passion are are even way ahead of us in terms of implementing Biblical law?

I will touch upon several points briefly:

    1. Think about it this way: in islame, the prophet muhammad (spit be upon him) did NOT die for our sins. Jesus Christ for died about 3 days, their prophet didn't die 3 seconds for us.

    2. Would you prefer to follow a prophet who died for your sins so that you can go to Heaven or would you prefer to follow one who's going to rape (but marry ) your child?

    3. Do you REALLY want to follow a religion where the men wear dresses like woman and their praying involves simulating being sexually dominated in the anus by another man? As Christians, we pray like men, not like gays.

Their book does not acknowledge Jesus Christ as our Savior, so how can it be "the same book"?

If someone took the book of Darwin and adapted it to say that we evolved from plants instead of having a common ancestor with the apes, would you still want it to be taught in classrooms as fact? No, because it would be a ridiculous perversion.

So you're saying that it's okay to follow religion AS LONG AS people don't ACTUALLY follow it? If the Bible says that God wants that people should be stoned for certain infractions, then who are we to say "no God, let's not".

Be wary of false Kumbaya Christians who use a highlighter and scissors to read the Bible. God wants us to read the lines, not between the lines. False Christians will go to Hell:
    Matthew 7:22
Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Exactly, I couldn't have put it better myself. And they each have their own reasons for claiming that theirs is the right one, your reason being that Jesus died for you. I never quite understood why he needed to do that actually, why can't you (or why couldn't your predecessors at the time of Jesus - who were in fact Jews, come to think of it...) just, you know, not "sin"?

Personally I don't need any prophet, but thanks.

Ah ok, thanks for the explanation. It depends what those completely different things are, and whether they really are completely different. I was simply drawing parallels.

Neither do I - or rather I wouldn't, if I believed in God. Nor can I see how God would want Iran to be "wiped off the map".

This is the issue we discussed a while back about whether morals or opinions or attitudes, whatever you want to call them, change over time. I believe they do (certain ones at least) and you believe they don't.

I'm not sure you'd like my answer to that, as you'd probably see it as rather blasphemous.

Having spent ages catching up on this thread after a few days away from the forum carrying out Godly works (beating up a few fags and spreading the Good Word) I find that the thread has been totally derailed by heathens trying to divert attention away from the fact that the earth is flat.

Don't let them divert you Brethern.
If you don't believe it then go read your bible - you DON"T have a bible??? Then prepare for eternal damnation sinner.

Okay, let's say there's a necklace missing and there are only two people who could have stolen it. They both say the other person took it. So you can think they are both equally right or wrong, but at the end of the day, only one of them took it.

So then you examine the lump in the pocket of one of the two and... you find out it's the necklace and the other person was telling the truth all along.

That's how it is with religion too: you have to read both books in their original language to find out for yourself which one is the Truth: you can read the Bible in American and the quran in arabic.

As for the significance and necessity of Jesus' temporary death: that's pretty self-evident to anyone who has read even just parts of the Bible. Imagine knowing about True Truth once you've read ALL of the KJV 1611 Bible.

We are Baptists, we don't have monks. I suppose the monk dress code could be a contributing factor. Baptist men dress like men. We don't wear bras or panties in public either.

Yes, they certainly change, but the holy book is still the same. No change. Ever. The Amish seem to be able to get it to an extent, so why can't we?

Oh, we certainly acknowledge with increasing panic that the world is changing away from God. That is why Sarah Palin must be elected so that she can mandate a Christianization of our entire country. I believe that "in God we trust" must be printed not only on money, but on every item that is sold in US stores. If they can put "made in China" on everything, then they certainly have a place to mention God as well, right?

            Brother God=life,

Thank you for drawing the fact that until proven in the eyes of our Lord and Savior Jesus H. Christ, I am as unworthy as any of these liberal loving, homo-rearing 'kumbaya' Christians.

I intend on elevating my name and just as 2 Corinthians 7 states:

"21 We care about doing the right thing, not only in the Lord’s eyes but also in the eyes of other people. "

I have been on this path for awhile, but have only found my calling from our righteous Lord himself.

Corinthians expounds on our shared mission:
"19 In addition to this, he is chosen by the churches to be our traveling companion in this work of grace, which we are taking care of for the sake of the glory of the Lord himself, and to show our desire to help."

..and I have found I can travel far distances to smite the non-believers on the internets. I am only here to help Brother.

Would you lead me to the nearest thread where I might further attest to my devotion and praise of the Almighty?

            Back on topic...

You'd better and throw yourself at the feet of the Lord notcognivist. A firey fate awaits you in your eternal damnation if you should not find the salvation, acceptance of Jesus so graciously allows you.

There are of course women who make the choice to wear it for religious reasons, which is absolutely fine, I would never criticise that. But in Iran at least (I'm aware that I'm focusing on one country a lot, but that's the one I know the most about) all women have to cover their heads when they're in public or they could get in a lot of trouble with the law. Iranian women that I know who don't make the choice to wear the hijab for religious reasons have a very negative opinion of the situation, which is what I had been trying to get accross - though perhaps in too much of a simplified way, as I was only using it as an example.
I thought you were a smart, open-minded kind of person so it's sad to see you post such a sorry excuse for your racism. The old - "I'm not prejudiced, some of my best friends are *blank*" is the oldest excuse in the book. Why are you so judgmental towards Iran? Don't you understand they have a different culture and it is very ignorant of you to expect them to act just like you?

Don't you know God doesn't want us to judge anyone, ever, for any reason whatsoever?

              I'll pray for you.

An alternative outcome in your example could be that the necklace is found and it turns that it was simply misplaced, so both were telling the truth that they hadn't stolen it.

If I remember rightly, Muslims believe the Qur'an was revealed to Muhammed by the angel Gabriel and Muhammed then repeated it to his companions, who wrote it down word for word. In the opinion of Muslims, that's a pretty good reason for believing that it is the Word of God, the Truth, etc.

Ok, and I suppose you think Jesus would have worn trousers do you? In the grand scheme of things and considering that fashions have changed considerably even in the last 100 years, I really don't think what someone wears is of great significance.

I think you've really misunderstood me. Racism would be saying bad things about the people of a certain nationality, and I love the Iranian people. And when I've said things against Iran, I simply meant their government. I would really like to visit Iran as I've heard amazing things about the countryside, the architecture and the hospitality of the people (although someone also told me that after visiting Iran, a person is not allowed into the States - not sure if that's true).
Perhaps I have no right to say anything against their regime, but I'm honestly only repeating what I've been told by Iranian friends, who inform me that the majority of the young generation are against the regime and there's a certain amount of generational conflict between them and their parents generation, who were part of the Iranian revolution to overturn the monarchy and create a better country. As far as the younger generation is concerned (I am told) the current regime is not much better than the previous one, if at all.

Haha! It makes no difference to me whether or not you roll your "r"s, I was just giving a light-hearted reply to your light-hearted comment :-).
