  • Greetings to all

Salutations, brothers and sisters. As I'm sure you can tell, I am new to these boards - but I wish to stay for a long while! I have been lurking for a few weeks now, and I can see that this board truly speaks with God's will.

My name is Freya, and I am 20 years old - born and raised in England, but have moved to Florida, USA - God's true home. There is nothing I am more glad about than to move from the sinful hole that in Great [bah!] Britian.

Currently, I am attending no church, as there are none, apart from this one, that follow the Bible exactly as it was written. While it saddens me intensly, it is better to serve God than to pretend to in those houses of Satan.

My favourate verse would most certainly be Ezekiel 25:7 - "Behold, therefore I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and will deliver thee for a spoil to the heathen; and I will cut thee off from the people, and I will cause thee to perish out of the countries: I will destroy thee; and thou shalt know that I am the LORD." - to me, it resonates most clearly what shall happen to the non-believers.

My journey with Christ started at the age of 13 - my parents, both Athiests, were killed in a car crash. I came to live with my grandfather, who showed me the right path to tread.

    Hi Freya!

I'm so glad to meet you! You have no idea how nice it is to see somebody normal here instead of the sick Godmocker freaks we usually get.

That was such a heartwarming story about how God smiting your parents led you to Him. If only more people had the sense you do!

    Your's in Him,

    Lycia
"Whether of them twain did the will of his father? They say unto him, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That the publicans and the harlots go into the kingdom of God before you. For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him." Matthew 21:31-32

Praise God and welcome, Freya. That is an exemplary introduction! Well done.

What is the best pie you bake? When will your grandfather marry you away and to who?

        Re: Greetings to all

It saddens me greatly that it took my parent's deaths to save my soul - and it saddens me further that I still miss them. I shall have to pray - it was God's love for me that caused it to happen.

On another note, I do have a question - my first name. Freya, a hommage to the Norse Pagan goddess of harlotry - what advice would you give me about this? Should I try my hardest to identify myself as something else, or live with it, knowing that my soul is saved, no matter my name?

I would take a normal name like Rebbecca. You just can't be too sure.

Greetings, Freya! Or, may I say, "What's up, DOC?"

            Sorry.

So far as your name goes . . . Are your parents Christian? If so, you should certainly consult with them out of respect. If not, then you should choose a name you feel suits you best. There are many Biblical names for women, like Ruth, or Rachel, or Esther, or Jezebel.
            Bible boring? Nonsense!

Hey, if I could have chosen my name, do you think I would have picked something weird like "Lycia"?

I too know the shame of having Godmocker parents and being stuck with a strange, non-American name. My name is my name however, and changing it would be not be a good way to honor my mother and father, no matter how useless they are.

Just something to think about there.

EDIT: Of course, I am a woman, so what do I know!

Well...I've always been pretty useless at baking, heh. It's something I'll have to work on. What I'd most like to be able to bake is a traditional apple pie - nothing beats it, except God.

I am alone in America - I moved here after my grandfather died, thus have no one to marry me off. Another reason for me to look for help on these boards.

And, about my name, I will have to pray on it. I don't think it's something I could decide.

I assume you're talking to me?

My parents named me after a character in a poem by an old English playwright. It's been so long since I've even thought about this that I forget who the playwright was, though.

But really, I would have preferred something along the lines of "Ruth", "Deborah" or "Priscilla".

                      Good morning Freya!

I am sure that there are many Landover men who will be happy to sample your pie when you are ready. Nothing like a nice, warm, moist, fresh pie!

I too am quite taken by the heartwarming story of your parents' death. I sometimes feel that if there were more "direct action" incidents like that, more people would come to the Lord.

                      Yours in Christ,

I have a solution for you. Freya means woman or lady. It is the equivalent of Eve. No one here will doubt that Eve is a biblical name. From now on I think I will call you. The Roman counterpart of Freya was called the the Magna Mater, a title eventually given to Mary. But because of that close association with the Mary-worshiping, ring-kissing, altar-boy-raping papists, that name is not beloved here at Landover Baptist Church. So Eve it will be.

So Eve, how do you like your new name? And welcome to the friendliest place this side of anywhere.

Literally Lycia means woman from Lycia. Lycia was a country in Asia Minor and is mentioned in the New Testament. It partly lies in present day Turkey.

I'm enjoying the warm reception that I'm getting, Mr. Student - surely God has blessed me to bring me here!

Also, thank you for the name - it seems appropriate for a Christian woman. Let us pray that I do not fall unto temptation like the original Eve did.

Time to try baking a pie again, I guess - the last one failed miserably, heh
