Hello

Good evening, well it is here in the UK.
Now I know that as a NON-American I can never really be loved by The Lord and our savour but this has not prevented me from attempting to follow the one true path. Even if that is in the UK.
I did for much of my 20's visit our local Church regularly, but it seemed empty and had as much feeling of the good Lord about it as an AA meeting. I once asked the Reverend how he felt about hold court without the judge being present. He looked at me oddly and ask what I meant.
He seemed truly shocked when I pointed out that as we (the congrigation) where not Americans the Lord would not be listening to our prayers let alone turning up to listen to his pointless rantings.
It was at this point in my life that I converted the back bedroom into my little sanctuary for reading the Bible and contemplation of all things Holy.
My favourite passage,that the wife says I should stop quoting at the checkout is.....

Genesis 38:8-10

Then Judah said to Onan, “Go in to your brother’s wife, and perform your duty as a brother-in-law to her, and raise up offspring for your brother.” Onan knew that the offspring would not be his; so when he went in to his brother’s wife, he wasted his seed on the ground in order not to give offspring to his brother. But what he did was displeasing in the sight of the LORD; so He took his life also.

I hope to be able to find some sanctuary here and a closeness with Some real Americans(I have told the wife that the guy that delivers our Pizza is NOT American. He's from Croydon) can only help me feel more at a one with the Lords love.

Welcome to this forum, friend!

You sound a little depressed. Aren't you overjoyed to have finally found a place where people worship the God of the Bible correctly, by following each and every part of the Bible?

And about the American thing, don't feel too bad about it. Because of our righteousness, God likes Our Glorious Country more than any other country, but it still is possible to get Saved(tm) without being an American. There are even some True Christians(tm) I know who initially were foreigners, but were Saved(tm). There is always hope!

WOW. I'm weeping as I type this and have called the wife in from cleaning something or other (womens work)in the other room.
Why weeping? I here you ask.
Well it is not often that I converse with a TRUE American. There was a guy in Tesco's the other week but he smelled of cabbage so I felt odd standing near him.
Is it really TRUE that SOME NON Americans have found salvation or is this some in joke that I know not of?
We are going to have a cup of Tea to celebrate this news right now AND it's gone 11:00 at night here!!!
My prayers before bed are going to have more vim and vigour than normal this evening!!!

I'm glad to hear you've recovered somewhat from your initial state, friend. Don't hesitate to take a look around at these forums to learn as much as you can about the Bible and Christianity.

I'm sorry if I offended with the "Joke" comment. But you must realise that I live in a society surrounded by miscreants, queers and the like and as such am unaccustomed to such truth and straight talking.
I shall go now and search the forum for the light that I know in my heart must be here.

Hello R.Brooks!

I think you should be less concerned about where you're from and more concerned with where you're going. From your posts, I believe that in your heart you know this...maybe you just need to be told, out loud and right out in the open, so that the things you FEEL become the things you BELIEVE.

There isn't a person here (and I am including everyone, even the mockers and unbelievers and Finns and Danes and etc. etc.) that has not had self-doubt and emptiness.

Many try to fill that void with sinning or excess or snorting bourbon or listening to rock and roll music, but the only material thing you need is the King James Bible.

All of the answers are there, and all the questions, too.

I am concerned for you, but I truly believe that if you get ahold of a KJV Bible and continue to listen to the good guidance here at Landover Baptist, particularly from people like True Disciple, you will be OK.

I have known this for some years and have used this line of thinking in my wife's teachings. To prove this point I make her remove the garbs of the modern world and standing in her sock soles(the basement has a cold floor and I'm not heartless)She recites passages from King James whilst I listen in on a baby monitor(this way I don't have to gaze upon her)from the back bedroom and contemplate.
