I never said he was the protagonist of the Bible. I said he was the focus point. I am very well aware that he doesn't APPEAR in most of it, but he sure is mentioned and spoken of plenty.

The New Testament takes up around 1/4 of the Bible. Even the prophetic verses predicting Jesus' coming from the Old Testament don't take up that much room. I would say no more that 1/3 of the Bible is talking about Jesus.

It's more about crimes and punishments than that.

Please cite chapter and verse where Jesus says that only the Ten Commandments are still in effect. "My pastor said . . ." is not a citation.

For that matter, list the Ten Commandments for me and explain to me how you keep each and every one of them.

LittleStarGirl, Why do you say that Jesus says that the old laws are no longer to be followed but then quote Paul?
Genesis 22:2 And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

            1 Timothy 2:11-15
Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

They just don't learn do they? There is a reason women aren't allowed to teach men and our new guest is the poster girl. It is always sad to see someone who knows nothing of the Bible attempting to spread their ignorance to others.

Could you remind me where Jesus says that only the ten commandments rather than the entire law are still in effect? Because I clearly seem to recall Jesus saying otherwise:

              Luke 16:14
And it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one tittle of the law to fail.

              Matthew 5:18-20
For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

... now I'm sure you're not trying to argue that the Ten Commandments are the "least" commandments in the Bible?

Also, while you're busy educating me, could you tell me which version of the ten commandments Jesus says are still in effect? The ones on the tablets that Moses broke after God threatened to wipe the tribe of Israel off the face of the earth or the ones God actually based the covenant on? The latter has the part about not seething a kid in its mother's milk.

              Exodus 34:17-28
[17] Thou shalt make thee no molten gods.
[18] The feast of unleavened bread shalt thou keep. Seven days thou shalt eat unleavened bread, as I commanded thee, in the time of the month Abib: for in the month Abib thou camest out from Egypt.
[19] All that openeth the matrix is mine; and every firstling among thy cattle, whether ox or sheep, that is male.
[20] But the firstling of an ass thou shalt redeem with a lamb: and if thou redeem him not, then shalt thou break his neck. All the firstborn of thy sons thou shalt redeem. And none shall appear before me empty.
[21] Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.
[22] And thou shalt observe the feast of weeks, of the firstfruits of wheat harvest, and the feast of ingathering at the year's end.
[23] Thrice in the year shall all your men children appear before the Lord GOD, the God of Israel.
[24] For I will cast out the nations before thee, and enlarge thy borders: neither shall any man desire thy land, when thou shalt go up to appear before the LORD thy God thrice in the year.
[25] Thou shalt not offer the blood of my sacrifice with leaven; neither shall the sacrifice of the feast of the passover be left unto the morning.
[26] The first of the firstfruits of thy land thou shalt bring unto the house of the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not seethe a kid in his mother's milk.
[27] And the LORD said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.
[28] And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.

Note that these are the only laws that are actually called the "ten commandments" in the Bible, so God is being clear what the ten commandments are. The fake version that was destroyed when the Israelites violated God's first attempt at a covenant by worshipping a golden calf obviously were not called the ten commandments - and yet fluffy bunny salad-bar "christians" do not seem to tire of spreading those falsehoods.

Again - could you point out where it says in the Bible that I am "no longer bound by the old laws or the laws of man" if I have accepted sweet Jesus as my Lord and Savior? Much obliged. Because I was under the impression that the Bible commands us to follow the secular rulers, for they have been instated by God:

              Romans 13:1-2
Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

...and even to pay up and follow the secular tax code:

              Matthew 22:17-21
Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.

Mark 11: 12-14: "And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet. And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever." You cannot hide from JESUS' wrath behind natural laws! Gravity is only a theory and will not prevent the rapture!

                Re: Not Impressed

For that matter, list the Ten Commandments for me and explain to me how you keep each and every one of them.
Thou shalt have no other gods before me: pretty easy commandment to keep as a Christian
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments: I have no idols and worship nothing but the Lord

Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain: Once again, pretty easy a commandment to follow for a Christian. I don't take the Lord's name in vain.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it: I do not work on Sundays. I make that very clear to any potential employers.

Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee: I honour my mother and father. I do what they ask of me and respect them

Thou shalt not kill: pretty sure I've never killed anyone. And I'm against the death penalty, which is killing

Thou shalt not commit adultery: I'm not married, so therefore, I cannot commit adultery. So, I never have

Thou shalt not steal: I haven't stolen anything from anyone or anywhere

Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour: honestly, I could never bear false witness against someone. I would much rather take the blame (even for another's error) than blame someone else.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's: I cannot say I have never done this. What can I say? I'm human, and therefore an imperfect being.

The same ten commandments were wrote the second time around. How can you call the first version "fake" when they came from the mouth of God? Why would the Lord have sent Moses down with the laws only to let them not be heard by the Israelites? No, the ten commandments were written the second time around and then kept in the Ark of the Covenant.

Um, the Bible doesn't say not to work for money on the Sabbath, it says not to do any labor, or allow anyone else to do work for you.

Do you prepare your meals the day before, or do you cook on Sundays? That's labor.

Do you do yard work on Sundays, or laundry? That's labor.

Do you go out to eat or to shop, thus forcing others to work for you?

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's: I cannot say I have never done this. So we have two commandments which admit you do not keep. Of only ten. How many of the over 600 do you also ignore?

I'm not quite sure I know what you mean.
You quoted Colossians. Written by Paul, not by Jesus. What's hard to understand about that?

False Christian? You guys are the ones following the laws intended for the Jews.
You mean God's COMMANDS? Intended for all, dearie. Jesus never said to ignore them. We have shown you this repeatedly, but you choose to insist "TEN COMMANDMENTS! TEN COMMANDMENTS! I DON'T CARE WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS, TEN COMMANDMENTS ONLY!"

The same ten commandments were wrote the second time around. How can you call the first version "fake" when they came from the mouth of God? No, the ten commandments were written the second time around and then kept in the Ark of the Covenant.
Maybe you should re-read your Bible. Or read it for a first time. The second set of Ten Commandments differs from the first.

                  A Christian would know that.

Typical. We don't agree with your lies about the Bible, and we disprove your lies with Scripture, and so you plug your ears and yell LALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU, TEN COMMANDMENTS ONLY, EXCEPT THE TWO I DON'T BOTHER WITH, BUT I REALLY KEEP THE OTHER EIGHT, LALALALALA!!

OK, just let me get this straight... You came here uninvited, picked a fight with our most wise Pastors and Members, got your proverbial backside handed to you, and as a rebuttal..... you're 'leaving' a place that didn't want you here in the first place?

Good job, keep up the good work (out of here, of course). Enjoy the eternal hellfire and brimstone.
