Hello brothers and sisters. I am new here, I look forward to learning more about my path to heaven and hopefully find ways for others to find the lord as we have.

Re: I'm new here
Forgive me brother, I am new to this message boarding thing. I noticed after my first post that I needed to give a church name and favorite verse.
My favorite verse is John 3:16, I know it is one of the more popular ones but it has been mine since I was a young boy. I go to the First Baptist church here in my small town in Mississippi and I am 41 years old.
My relationship with the lord is ok, I am a lost sheep and I know I am, I found this site and thought maybe it would help get me back on track in life like the good lord wants me to be.

Hey Blake!
I also like John 3:16, but it always amazes me that some people "interpret" it to mean everyone is getting into Heaven: NOT TRUE!!!

They seem to overlook the "whosoever believeth in Him" part, and that parts whacks a whole BUNCH of folks: joos, hindoos, mooslims, catlicks, etc. etc. They are in for quite a surprise!

You are so right brother. I used to be one of those lost sheep and in a sense I still am, but I am on the right path to salvation so that when my day comes I can stroll through the pearly gates and laugh at the heathens burning in thr fires of hell.

Welcome, Blake.
Tell me, do you know any other Bible verses besides John 3:16, or is that the only one?WARNING:

Welcome! It is pretty concerning that you say your relationship with the Lord is "ok". What is stopping you from making it great? I'd pick up a Bible and start taking detailed notes if I were you.

Phil 4:13: I can do everything through him who gives me strength.
Prov 3:6: in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Acts 18:10: For I am with you, and no one is going to attack and harm you, because I have many people in this city.”
I have a few more, and I am currently familiarizing with more of the great passages from the good book.

Re: I'm new here
I was a bad person for many years, I did lots of bad things to some really good people. I finally had a friend find me passed out drunk one morning in my front yard, I had done him wrong and yet he still lifted my drunken body off the cold damp ground, took me inside and sat there until I woke up and had sobered up. He then talked to me about the lord and invited me to church with him. After that day I started to see the light and then accepted his invite to attend services with him which is when the lord opened my eyes, that was 6 years ago, I haven't looked back nor have I went back to my evil ways. I am now saved and working to change every aspect of my life to live how I should to be a good christian, it has been a very long and bumpy road, because as we all know Satan will tempt you every chance he gets, I fight him hard every day. Maybe I understated my relationship with god when I said it was "ok".Originally posted by Miss Christine View PostWelcome! p.s. my bible is always near, i take it to work with me and read scripture during my breaks, it's like the American express slogan "don't leave home without it"

Re: I'm new here
Is there really a big difference? I ask because nobody has ever told me if there was or not. It is the NIV, it was given to me by an old friend when he found out I was changing my life. Should I be reading from a different version, if so please guide me into the right direction Brother John.Originally posted by John Creeser View PostBlake - can you tell us what version of the Bible you are quoting from please?
