I realize you may already dislike me for being what I am, so I apologize if I'm offending you by being here. Being atheist doesn't make me stupid, like it seeMs you're implying... as I've said, I've been poorly educated in the subject of Christ, or religio itself. Again, I apologize about any typos or misspellings.

Actually, the Bible says being an atheist does make you stupid and worthless.

If you bothered to read other welcomes posts, you would know that Pastor Ezekiel alwayes tells everybody of them rules, then you wont be able later to say "Ohhh i dident knew that"

And I know it isn't an excuse, but I was on the ride home from visiting family quite a distance away, and my phone was the only was to access this forum and communicate my questions and concerns. Still getting used to the phone, the 'autocorrect' function is sometimes off, and not being familiar with the keyboard can leave me with quite a few misspellings and typos

Let me tell you the story of a lost young man. Always an effeminate boy, he left a broken home at 18 to "find himself" on the midwest truck stop circuit. Quickly gaining notoriety as the I-35 "power bottom" with the hungriest butt, he began turning tricks and appearing in low-budget gay porn films which required him to inject muscle relaxants and anesthetics directly into his sphincter so that he could accommodate the sizeable objects being inserted into his rectum on a daily basis. Then one day there was a loud 'POP' and he lost consciousness. He awoke alone in the bathroom of the trailer where the truckers were filming in a pool of blood, feces and yellow bile, unable to get back on his feet. He had blown out his O-ring. He had hit rock bottom.

That young man is me, thirteen years ago. Then on October 16, 1998, at 2:34 in the afternoon, I gave my life over to Jesus and accepted Him as my personal LORD and Savior, and I have never looked back. I called up the first Independent Baptist Church I found in the phonebook, and one of the younger Pastors from Landover came to pick me up and get me enrolled in their Ex-Gay© treatment program. Today, I am a happily married True Christian™ with a wife and five sons, walking upright in righteousness and perfection.

Brother Enoch - I suppose in that sense, I am ignorant. And as I've said, I'm trying to fix that by learning.

James - I'll check out those links, thank you very much! However, I will wait until I can obtain one from a local Pastor, as I much prefer a physical copy of a book, especially one so important.

I absolutely don't want to offend anyone or make them think I'm against them, but so far many of the replies have seemed angry or spiteful...that's what I was trying to avoid. I wanted to be as civil and open minded as possible, so again, I'd like to apologize if my presence bothered anyone or has upset or offended them.

Would I be wrong in saying that if I did truly change my ways, and honestly accept God into my life that I still would not be accepted among the True Christians? Now, now, young man. You have to be one or the other as you said you don't know what is contained in the Bible. If your lack of knowledge is because you haven't been exposed to it, well that's ignorance. Ignorance isn't a bad word, it simply means 'lacking knowledge' in a particular area. Not necessarily a bad thing (for example, I am ignorant of the rules of gay sports like cricket and soccer). But it isn't good to be ignorant of the Bible since that will lead to an eternity of suffering in Hell.

It is heartening to see you are seeking to do away with you ignorance in this, the single most important area of knowledge for any human being.

If I may interject, brother, it is my belief that willful ignorance (as displayed by atheists) is stupidity. It is my hope that Matthew is as open to new knowledge as we True Christians™ are. That will determine if he is simply ignorant or ignorant and stupid.
