  • I come in peace

Hello, my name is Anna and I come only for the sake of experience.

I am a peaceful deist with an open mind.

I used to attend a Methodist church, however I found that as I got into high school I had less time due to my educational commitments as well as my commitment to the debate team (trust me on this one; you don't want to argue with me).

Hopefully, I will not be viewed as trash; we are all children of God, after all.

Welcome to Landover Baptist's online ministry!

It is truely saddening that you are a Methodist, since those Wesley boys perverted a whole bunch of Christian folks back in the day into thinking all good people go to Heaven. Well that's just flat out wrong, and most of them went to Hell becuase of it! Glory!

Matthew 13:41-43 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Amen, Brother! It always makes my heart reach heavenward with joyous praises to hear that some gullible fools were weeded out of Christ's proverbial harvest, and sent to Hell like they deserve.

No. And by the way, no.
This church is dedicated to preaching True Christianity™ and the King James Bible exactly as they are, with no alterations to make them more politically correct for modern liberals. If you think that we've misquoted or twisted Scripture or quoted any verse out of context, please explain in detail how we've done so. Otherwise, if what you read on this site offends you, then you're offended by Almighty God and His Word, not by us.

Can you define your beliefs as a "peaceful deist?" The only 'ist' we (and God) approve of is preceded with a 'Bapt!'

Matthew 13:41-43 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth. You're not even a Christian, are you.

                  Re: I come in peace

By peaceful, I do not intend to offend or troll or flame; I simply wish to experience another take on theology.

Deism was part of the rationalist/enlightenment movement that took place in Europe during the 1700s; such ideals spawned the American Revolution as well as the French Revolution.

Deism is the acceptance of the existence of a God. Please take note that it is not Atheism or Agnosticism; those are completely different kettles of fish. Deism sees God as a divine watchmaker or architect. God, to use the watchmaker analogy, winds the watch and lets it tick away. So, it's essentially benign neglect.

And exactly where does the Bible back up this cockamamie concept?

It doesn't. It shouldn't have to; it's not so much religion as it is philosophy. In fact, all religion is really philosophy.

And please do not call my ideas "cockamamie"; it's quite rude.

And you know what the Holy Word of God says about "philosophies," don't you?

Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

My sermon in my first link in my signature deals with this very subject.

Like, aren't we supposed to love one another, man?

                          John 13:34
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another."

Again, this scripture taken out of context would make it sound like we are supposed to go around drawing hearts and writing love poetry to everyone we see on the streets when nothing could be further from the truth.

To properly discern this saying of Jesus we have to take it into context. Who was Jesus speaking to when He gave us that commandment?

The setting is during the last supper. Jesus is sitting there with His disciples. It was a closed event.

You only need to look at the next verse to realize that Jesus didn't include everyone in this.

By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

We are to love our fellow Christians.
