  • Unsaved Trash

Hello, I've been reading through your website on and off for a few weeks now. It's really amazing the kind of things I see on here. Sometimes I'm not sure if it's for real, but you seem to be serious. Anyway, I thought I would register so I could comment on posts, and I saw you requested an introduction, so here it is.

    I don't go to church. I don't have a favorite Bible verse. I haven't found Jesus.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Religious Studies.

    You can call me Sue.

    Hi, Sue, and welcome!

Thank you for following the simple instructions on how to provide an introduction.

How could you get a degree in religious studies, yet not find Jesus?

And what does one do with such a degree?
    Bible boring? Nonsense!

Welcome to God's Favorite Forum, young lady. The Word of God truly is an amazing, timeless, and majestic message. It's good that you can at least appreciate that much. It seems that the LORD has brought you here for a reason.

Since you have not yet developed a personal relationship with Jesus, please tell us instead about the sins you wallow in and why you think you place such distance between yourself and your Creator. This will help us determine how best to share our witness with you, that you may put an end to your sad, pathetic life of total depravity and instead be born again in Christ.
      II Thessalonians 1:7-9
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power

The man who is being progressively sanctified will inescapably sanctify his home, school, politics, economics, science, and all things else by understanding and interpreting all things in terms of the Word of God and by bringing all things under the Dominion of Christ the King. -R.J. That's what God's inspiration can do for a website.

We're just as serious as when Jesus was when He said that sinners would burn for all eternity.

        I don't go to church. I don't have a favorite Bible verse. I haven't found Jesus.
No problem. You've come to the right place to find Him. Actually, Jesus posts every now and then on our boards.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Religious Studies.
I hope it's not from one of those secular universities that teach crazy viewpoints such as the Bible contains contradictions or that Adam and Noah and Abraham and David never existed.

My first religion class was World Religions. Finding out that there are multiple religions out there that say if you don't believe them, you will go to hell, made me feel like no matter what choice I made, I would go to hell.

Unfortunately, I haven't done much of anything with it

Well, I have used birth control. I consider myself equal to my husband, although he works while I am a housewife. I had premarital sex. I don't have any children. I don't believe the Bible is the word of God, I believe it was written by men. I have stolen and lied. There's probably more but that's a good place to start, right?

Well, now that you mention it... this is actually one of the things I wanted to ask you all about.

In Genesis, Chapter One, God creates heaven and earth, light, firmament, animals, etc, all before man. Verse 27: "So God created man in his own image in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them."

In Chapter Two, it's almost like it starts over again. 7:"And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the earth, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." Then God creates everything else, and puts him in the garden, creating the animals; only THEN does he create woman, at verse 22:"And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man."

So, which is it? Did God create everything else, then man and woman, or did he create man, then everything else, then woman? This question has been bothering me for years. I think Landover Baptist is the only community than can possibly clear this up for me. Thanks!

Er, um.. well it's complicated. There are so many theories on it and I wouldn't want to tire you (a mere woman) out with such big talk.

Isn't your husband hungry or something?
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

If you decided after your first religion course that you couldn't trust any religion, why did you continue distressing yourself with an entire degree on the subject?

Why not just give up and return to Jesus?

The garden is a subset of the world. Note that Adam and Eve were expelled from the garden, into the world.

So, in the first story, God created the world and all the "other" people. In the second, He created the Garden of Eden and the first Jews.

How can you not have covered something so basic with an entire degree in "religious studies"? Did you find your school on the back of a matchbook or something?

You don't even have to go to that much trouble. If you read with the eyes of a believer, there is absolutely nothing to be confused about. It is only when those who lack Spiritual discernment try to comprehend the full and breathtaking majesty of the Word that anything about it could be even remotely confusing.

                      I Corinthians 3:18-20
Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.

Well Sue, here's how it looks to this home schooled Christian. God hates people that try to find discrepencies in His book, and you started looking for them on the very first page of His book, so on judgement day it looks like you, along with your Bachelor's degree in Religious Studies will be thrown into our loving God's lake of fire. There might have been a bit of wriggle room for you if you started looking for discrepencies towards the middle or back of the Bible, but on the very first page, shame!

You have to read the first two chapters of Genesis together. God created every beast of the field and every fowl of the air before He created Adam. Then He created them again after He created Adam. Then He created Eve.

See? It all flows logically if you just read the words carefully.
