  • another new member here

    Hello,
    I will start off by saying that I am 21 years old and I have been saved since I was 15.
    I follow the true word of Jesus Christ and treat others with respect and understanding.
    Although sometimes I might not agree with someones views or choices, I do not OPENLY harp them and call them terrible names and insist on telling them they are going straight to hell to burn if they do not change their mind right then and there.
    Instead, I pray for them and ask the Lord to help them find a righteous path.

    I am Baptist and attend Golden Acres Baptist Church.
    I hope this was an informative introduction as it is the truth

    Hi, and welcome to our friendly forums!

    You neglected to tell us what your favorite Bible verse is, did it maybe slip your mind?

    Also, would you like to share with us how you found Jesus? I love to hear people's testimonies, and I think that helps encourage those silent believers who are reading our Godly forums who may not have the courage to come out of the closet and admit to being Christian.

    Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! That is, unless you don't listen to church authority (Deuteronomy 17:12); are a witch (Exodus 22:17); are a homosexual (Leviticus 20:13; Romans 1:24-32); or fortuneteller (Leviticus 20:27) or a snotty kid who hits their dad (Exodus 21:15); or curses their parents (Proverbs 20:20; Leviticus 20:9); an adulterer (Leviticus 20:10); a non-Christian (Exodus 22:19; Deuteronomy 13:7-12; Deuteronomy 17:2-5;Romans 1:24-32); an atheist (2 Chronicles 15:12-13); or false prophet (Zechariah 13:3); from the town of one who worships another, false god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19); were a non-virgin bride (Deuteronomy 22:20-21); or blasphemer (Leviticus 24:10-16), as God calls for your execution and will no doubt send you to Hell, and I have no interest developing a friendship with the Spiritually Walking Dead.

      Hello! I sure am glad that you are here. Thank you for posting a proper introduction: you'd be amazed at how many people mess that part up.

      I detect a subtle disappointment in your post: why is that?

        My favorite verse is Corinthians 13: 4-7

        "Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it...rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."

        I became a Christian when I was 15 when I heard my Uncle speak at Church when I visited him for the first time.
        He spoke of compassion, and love. Of how the Lord is righteous and forgiving, and how through Him, any man can achieve great things.

        With this I asked Jesus Christ to come into my heart and be my personal Lord and Savior.
        Since then, I have gained a trait that I am proud of and hold very dear.
        I do not denounce those who say blasphemous things. I do not call them hatemongers or whores for their beliefs because that is outwardly showing hate and the Lord our God does not "hate." He loves. Instead of telling them they are scum and wicked, I speak the Gospel and try to show them the love of the Lord our God, and through the Good Book, how one may live full, peaceful, righteous lives. I then pray for them, for they do not know the true glory of the Lord.

        I hope you understand what I am trying to say here.

          Hello, Wells! While I agree with you that our Lord is a loving God and that we are to show respect to each other, and I even agree that there is worth to simply being nice and treating people with politeness, I would not be so presumptuous as to declare that our God does not "hate", for there are times and situations when He does. For example, He appears to have hated Esau. You do remember that part, right? There are plenty more places like that in the Bible, of course.
          Joshua 1:6: "Bee strong, and of a good courage: for vnto this people shalt thou diuide for an inheritance the land which I sware vnto their fathers to giue them".

            Irinka,
            Very true friend. I can agree with you after thinking about it that our god can, indeed, hate.
            If there is one thing that He hates more than anything, that is, of course, sin.

              Yes, I understand what you're trying to say. You're telling us you don't love sinners and you don't hate sin and you're not willing to do the hard work of fighting to save people from aeternal hellfire.

                  Yes! You're saying that you were moved by your uncle's sermon! You don't judge people for worshiping idols, and refuse to point out to them when they make a deadly mistake, one that will result in their spending eternity in Hell. I'll bet that helps you sleep at night, knowing you've avoided any unpleasant confrontations that might just save a soul. What you forget is the LORD has called the True Christian™ to correct the True Christian™ wanna be.

                  I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ,
                  who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;
                  Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
                  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine;
                  but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
                  And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

                    You're also trying to tell us you've never read the following verse, or worse yet, you have read it and made a conscious decision to ignore it.

                    1 Timothy 5:20

                    20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

                      I am indeed willing to "do the hard work" because I have helped many of my friends find the Light and welcome Jesus into their hearts, but not through hate and fear, but through love and kindness.

                        2 Timothy 4:1-2 I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;

                        Paul is not making a suggestion here.

                        Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.

                        While we at LBC do our fair share of rebuking, I want you to look at the word "reprove" I left bold for you. In the Greek, the word is used thusly:

                        a) generally with a suggestion of shame of the person convicted
                        b) by conviction to bring to the light, to expose
                        2) to find fault with, correct
                        a) by word
                        1) to reprehend severely, chide, admonish, reprove
                        2) to call to account, show one his fault, demand an explanation
                        b) by deed
                        1) to chasten, to punish

                        Jude 1:22-23 And of some have compassion, making a difference:
                        And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

                        We preach exactly as Paul tells us to. It's too bad you whisper sweet lies into people's ears not warning them that the train is coming as they lay on the railroad tracks.

                        I'm glad I don't have any friends like you.
                        Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

                          It is what must be done to show them that they are doing wrong in the eyes of the lord.
                          I of course make it a point at sometime while speaking with them that if they continue to sin as they do, that they will be cast into the eternal fire.
                          But, I do not make that my only reference to their sinful ways.

                              in fact, I can see that it is the only thing you do here.
                              However, you cannot teach the ways of the Lord on only one half.
                              If you ONLY preach to someone about fearing the Lord our God, then you are not worthy of preaching His word at all.
                              The Lord should be feared, yes, but He should also be loved.
                              And I have not seen one post yet in this forum speaking of our Lord's love.
                              I have only seen hate and spite towards others for one misplaced word.
