If you ONLY preach to someone about fearing the Lord our God, then you are not worthy of preaching His word at all.
The Lord should be feared, yes, but He should also be loved.
And I have not seen one post yet in this forum speaking of our Lord's love.
I have only seen hate and spite towards others for one misplaced word.
But I say unless ye repent ye shall likewise perish.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom.

That was Jesus' message. That and love your neighbor as yourself. We do love our neighbors.

    Please see this sermon.

Bible Answers: Who are our neighbors? Who are our brothers and sisters? Who are we to love?
Christians are superior because we possess an understanding that unbelievers lack. It is through the Power of Jesus only the converted mind is able to understand what is going on in the world; what the Communists are really up to; what Satan's intentions are. Most unbelievers do not even believe in Satan and cannot understand his tactics.

It might be the beginning of wisdom, but it is certainly not both beginning AND end.

Perhaps you simply ignored my last post.

Those who only preach of God's wrath and speak not one word of His love, have no business preaching His word at all.

Very true, young lady. God hates sinful behaviour and I can't think of a more unconscionable sin than the one that is eating into our society today, I expect.

Those dirty queers will stop at nothing in pushing their militant gay agenda on our kids in school. That's like looking the gates to Heaven for a whole generation of wholesome young youths on the cusp of adulthood.

It makes me sick that God's will is flaunted in such ways.

          Re: another new member here

Welcome to the forum, Mr Wells.

I would like to give you two reasons why it is vital to alert the sinner to his condition.

          1) So that he cannot plead ignorance when he stands before the judgement throne of Christ.

Jn 15:22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin.

          2) So that God won’t hold you guilty of his sin. If you know that someone is sinning and has incurred God’s wrath but don’t warn him, God’s wrath will still be poured out on the sinner, but he will also require an account from you. Pay special attention to verse 20.

Ezek 3:17-21 17 Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.
18 When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
19 Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.
20 Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling-block before him, he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
21 Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul.

And so, you understand, I am compelled to warn you. There are many people who deceive themselves into thinking they are Christians.

Mat 7:21-27 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
          24 Therefore
[this word is important; it shows that what follows is linked to the preceeding verses] whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them [those who follow all of God’s Word], I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not
[those who pick and choose Scriptures as if the Bible were a buffet], shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

You need to accept and practice all of God’s Word. Self-deception is all too easy.

1 Cor 10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.

A lot of people like to emphasize that God is love, and this is true (1 Jn 4:8). But God is also holy.

Lev 19:2b For I the LORD your God am holy.

          God is also righteous.

2 Chron 12:6 The LORD is righteous.

          God is jealous.

Ex 20:5b I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me.

Ex 34:14b For the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.

God is many things. Love and hate and jealousy and fear are not mutually exclusive. I pray that you will come to understand this.

I am disturbed that you insist we ignore God's love. This is simply not true. You need to read the link Pastor Levi provided. I also love talking about God's love. In closing, I would like to leave you with this verse.

Heb 12:5a My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him.
sigpicMt 21:42, 44 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes . . . ? And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

This new poster reeks of sissyfied, namby-pamby Christianity.

Do you attend a Unitarian church or something son? Is your pastor an obeese female gym teacher with a crew cut? Please read the original KJV, you can give the "Illustrated Bible" made for children that you have likely been reading to your first born. Its time to actually READ the bible.

Just trying to help, Harold Law

            Ephesians 5:22-24
22*Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. 23*For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24*Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Welcome friend, you seem like a decent sort, so rare in today's fast moving times.
How many sons have you sired with your wife?
What are your favorite and then least favorite parts of the Bible? Are they opposite sides of His Word or is there 'just something you find unsettling' about the two, a dichotomy if you will?
Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.
Matthew 10:36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

                  Re: another new member here

Who says we do not speak about love?

We KNOW that God loves anyone who, in turn, loves God with all his heart and soul (Matthew 22:37) and who keeps His commandments. If you can't do that simple thing, why do you expect God does not punish you? It's all right there in the Bible. Romans 6:23.
"Come Unto Me. Put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath." (Matthew 19:14, Job 1:11).
