I'm an Atheist, my parents were both Christian. I grew up in the church, read the King James Bible far too many times to count. The stories in the Bible make sense, and I understand them fully. In fact, I've baffled and astounded many Bishops and Pastures with my spiritual strength of understanding. When I turned 18 I left my home and joined the United States Marines. My rifle is my salvation. From the things I've seen, and the things I've had to do to survive, I cannot find kindness in the thought of God. If a trained killer like myself can struggle to survive, then the children and young women must get the punishment I avoided on a daily basis. And I apologize if anyone find's this offensive, but you'd have to be one huge assh*le to put your children in a warzone and watch them suffer. I'd do anything to keep my son out of that region. And yet, there are sons and daughters running all through the sand as the bullets fly through the air. Now, how can I show faith, when respect is earned, not given. I have faith in those I respect. How can I show respect or someone who does nothing?

Re: Salvation?
Hello, Soulful Warrior. Which denomination did you grow up in? You say you know the Bible well, so tell us your favorite passage or story. Perhaps you can baffle and astound us with your spiritual understanding (an odd phrase for an atheist to use). The parable of the sower describes people like you (Mat 13:3-9). Obviously, you were never a true Christian in the first place. When things got difficult, you gave up. Was hardship the only reason you lost your faith in God? Just because life is tough doesn't mean God doesn't exist. A lot of atheists who come on this site say their main reason for not believing in God is that there's no evidence He exists -- as if saying it over and over again makes it true.sigpic Mt 21:42, 44 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes . . . ? And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

Re: Salvation?
I believe God exists, I just don't have faith in him. And if I wrote "Atheist" I am sorry, I meant Agnostic.

Re: Salvation?
Well, you can't be agnostic either if you believe God exists. Agnostics believe we can't know whether God exists. When you say God exists, are you referring to the God of the Bible?Originally posted by Soulful Warrior View PostI believe God exists, I just don't have faith in him. And if I wanted criticism, I would have posted this on a yahoo forum or something. I've come here for support and guidance, is that not what the church is about?

Re: Salvation?
I don't know if you're referring to my first post or my second. In my first post I thought you were an atheist because you said you were, and I responded accordingly. But in the second I merely pointed out that you can't possibly be agnostic in the traditional sense of the word if you believe God exists. Google it if you don't believe me. I am trying to give you guidance here. But first I need to know if the God you believe exists is the God of the Bible or some other god.Originally posted by Soulful Warrior View PostAnd if I wanted criticism, I would have posted this on a yahoo forum or something. Agnosticism is the view that the existence or non-existence of any deity is unknown and possibly unknowable.

The Church is a place for Jesus' elect to gather together in Christian fellowship, praising Him. Our purpose is not to molly-coddle mealy-mouthed sinners like yourself and exhort you to continue wallowing in depravity and perversion.II Thessalonians 1:7-9
And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power

The man who is being progressively sanctified will inescapably sanctify his home, school, politics, economics, science, and all things else by understanding and interpreting all things in terms of the Word of God and by bringing all things under the Dominion of Christ the King. -R.J. Rushdoony

Re: Salvation?
That is basically what I said. So you are clearly not agnostic if you believe God exists. I'll ask you one last time. The God that you believe exists, is He the God of the Bible?Originally posted by Soulful Warrior View PostAgnosticism is the view that the existence or non-existence of any deity is unknown and possibly unknowable.sigpic Mt 21:42, 44 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes . . . ? Please answer me this:
Can honestly tell me that not once when you involved in a firefight you didn't pray that God would get you through it?
And if you did...and you are alive now...well, then He answered your prayers.

Re: Salvation?
What is your real reason for posting here? Sounds as if your heart is closed to God.
What brought you here if you could have posted in a yahoo group instead?
Was it your soul crying out to your mind, "Save us! Let us find Jesus' love and be saved through His Grace?"
I believe it was.
Shut that mind of yours up for a while and listen to your soul!

I'm curious about these bishops you say you've baffled, though. I don't have much occasion to bump into bishops as I go about my day to day affairs. Where are you meeting all these bishops?WARNING:
