  • Greetings from an ex-Catholic Atheist

    Hey everyone!
I'm getting the impression I might have stirred up a hornet's nest by describing myself with the 'A' word, but the header said 'unsaved welcome' so I thought I might pop in and say hi

Before I say anything else I just want to make it clear I'm not a militant atheist here to start any arguments, or tell you you're an idiot or anything else (believe it or not some of us are pretty friendly once you get to know us!)

So, yeah. Basically I was raised as a Roman Catholic for many a year but I had some serious objections to the legitimacy of the Papacy. I ended up leaving Catholicism and didn't really have any sort of religion for the past 8 or so years.

So, here I am, partly because I am interested in what you believe, but also because I do wish to fill the emptiness in my life with religion again and I'm hoping something here might spark it. That's pretty much it, and I'm surprised you've actually been bothered to read this far!

Catholicks are not Christians, which you can read about HERE.

Jesus clearly called you here for a reason. I hope you know how lucky you are. I advize you to drop to your knees NOW and beg Him to take charge of your pathetic life, and fill you with the Holy Spirit.

Well, actually, it says "unsaved UNwelcome," but since you're a catholic atheist, It explains why you can't read so well.

Might I suggest reading the KJV 1611 Bible? I'm POSITIVE it will increase your reading skills. I just love spending the day, curled up with my Bible, reading all the goodness it provides. (2 Timothy 3:16)

WELL, you are willing, I will give you that much. Holly is right, however, do read the KJV Holy Bible, because it is GOD'S TRUE WORD and the first step in becoming enveloped in his HOLY LIGHT as a Saved True Christian. Let Jesus into your heart, and follow ALL (as in EVERY SINGLE ONE) of His holy rules, and you just might save yourself from eternal damnation!
          Welcome to LAndover, friend!

Edit: Did not mean to quote the good Pastor, sorry!
But he answered and said, it is not right to take the children's bread and cast it to the dogs. (Matthew 15:26)

Re: Greetings from an ex-Catholic Atheist

I have found an online source that helps quite a bit when I'm needing specific scriptures. It is found here.

It is very useful here, since everything you say should be backed up with Scripture, if at all possible.

              Yours in Christ,

              Holly

Well, having dug out your 1611KJV, what's keeping you from reading it cover to cover?

So tell us about your family. How many sons do you have? Why do you call yourself an atheist? Is Jesus a burr under your saddle for some reason?
Yours always in the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior,

Nothing is stopping me, which is why I fully intend to
I'm only a young man, I haven't found the right woman yet so no sons right now. I guess I referred to myself as an atheist for lack of a better word. I guess a better description would be impartial? I always tried to live as moral a life as I could; I don't drink, I've never taken drugs, I try to be as kind and respectful as I can to others as possible. But something always felt missing, hence why I'm here

Internalized morals are worthless. You need the sweet, sweet words of the KJV Bible:

(1 Corinthians 2:13) "Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual."

By now you should be about two thirds of the way through Ezra. What do you think so far? Are you starting to get a handle on morality God's way and why it's unwise to wait too long to find a fertile wife and begin having sons?
                        Ezra Chapter 8: 1-14 (1611KJV)

Son, whenever I hear that, I can't help but to think there might be something else that may be interfering with your search for a wife. Open up to Jesus and confess what that might be. You're not a homer, are you?

                        Leviticus Chapter 18:22 (1611KJV)

If you're not an atheist, that means you believe in God. How can you be impartial to God? Your eternity is at stake here, boy!

                        Matthew Chapter 7: 19 (1611KJV)

You sure have a lot to learn from your Bible and I hope you're wasting no time getting yourself educated and inspired. Where did you get the idea that a man shouldn't drink? Even Jesus drank wine.

                        Judges Chapter 9:13 (1611KJV)

You didn't find this forum by pure happenstance, you know. What's been missing from your life (I'm sure it's becoming obvious to you by now) is Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. If you simply let Him have His way with you, you'll be filled with His love in no time.
