    Tell me friend, what is it about these particular verses that makes you jump up and down, filled with the love of Jesus? Be specific!

          I am not as adept at Scripture as many of your site's members clearly are, so I will not attempt to provide any supporting KJV Biblical references, but, if you don't mind, briefly explain my fascination of the above text.

          These verses have always seemed very strange to me - and with that have provided me with great curiosity. Who is this man? Why has Mark, or the Holy Spirit, not provided us a name or identity for this individual. The use of the phrase "a young man" seems to be deliberately displayed in both chapters. Why? For my Christian studies have informed me that the latter mention of the young man is actually an angel appearing to Mary to inform her of the Lord's resurrection. But I am not prone to speculation since this is only revealed in later Gospels whereby the Evangelists specifically describe the man (or men) of the tomb as angels. And elsewhere in the Gospel Mark, too, clearly defines entities as angels (i.e., Mark 1:13) - why is this title not specificity bestowed upon the man of the tomb?

          For me these have always been symbolic verses. Specifically, the young man presents us with baptismal symbolism. The young man, in both verses, represents the same individual. In the first instance, the young man symbolizes the pre-baptized beast of the wild - unsheathing himself in preparation for the blessing he is about to receive. This event coincides with the precise moment Jesus is seized for crucifixion and thus the precursor to the fulfillment of the Scriptures. Through his death and ultimate resurrection, the prophecy has been fulfilled and the salvation of humanity solidified. Thus, the young man at the tomb represents the baptized Christian. He is once again fully clothed in white and is filled with the knowledge of the risen Lord.

          The transformation Jesus undergoes through death and resurrection, is emblematic of everyone's transformation that occurs during this sacrament. Hence, we all begin as the young man in Gethsemane: lost, confused and running naked. But, we all end as the young man in the tomb: saved and filled with the knowledge of Jesus Christ.

          Now, I know many of you here are not open to interpretation and prefer to take the Scripture as verbatim, but for me this is one of the most underestimated and beautiful examples of literary symbolism in the New Testament.

            Welcome friend, how often has your wife laid a son on the feet of God as proof of your families devotion?
            Isaiah 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
            Amos 3:6 Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the LORD hath not done it?
            Numbers 21:6 And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
            Matthew 10:34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.
            Matthew 10:35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

              Let me ask you this: if you have a shop manual that tell you precisely how to adjust the Rochester 3G Tri-Power carburetors on a '65 GTO, would you feel the need to "interpret" those steps?

              Do you think your GTO would be running any better by leaving out some steps and adding some others and generally just doing what you think feels right?

                You are not familiar with Scripture and yet you assume it means this? This doesn't even make sense, dear. No wonder you're so confused. I would suggest you stop inventing theology and simply read the Holy Bible and learn what the LORD Himself actually says.

                Hello, my name is Mary. I hope to fellowship with you! It's true that only Mark mentions this. So who is this young man? Truth be told, the Holy Ghost chose to leave him nameless, so we don't know. However, this event is recorded for a reason, a good one since it’s the Word of God!

                    Re: New to Site

                    Maybe. If the manual in question was one of many versions (NIV, NASB, ASB, KJV, NKJV, DRV, etc.), originally translated from Greek to Latin and then finally (1,000 years after it was originally written) into English (and whose instructions altered slightly with each translation), was subject to both accidental / human error (caused by ancient techniques used to translate and copy texts from one medium to the next) and intentional interpolation, while also containing inconsistencies within it's own version?

                    Yes, if my Rochester 3G tri-power carburetor's instructional manual fell victim to any of the above, then I would consider interperating its recommendation for proper calibration and float adjustment.

                      And that is precisely why we only quote from the inerrant and infallible King James Version of the Bible. All others will send you to hell because as you mentioned above, they stray from the original Word and God says that is unacceptable;

                      Deuteronomy 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.

                      Deuteronomy 12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.

                      Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
                      Proverbs 30:6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

                      James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

                      And my favorite regarding the subject of mincing God's Holy Word;

                      Galatians 1:7-9
                      7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
                      8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
                      9 As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

                              Friend, you are deluded. No offense intended.

                              You cannot make stuff up and be believable. Simply not possible. Everyone would have an opinion and no understanding could ever come of it. This is why God Himself oversaw the creation of the KJV1611 Holy Bible. No where in it does it tell you all the guidance in it is 'mere suggestion' and to 'please feel free to make anything up as you go along'.

                              If everyting was so simple that even a person like you could figure it out (tell me, how would you balance the tri-power?) then why have all the scientists in the world, for 1,000's of years, not been able to explation creation with anything better than 'it was an accident'? Truth be told, every accident I have had, things turned out for the worse. Do you think we are for the worse?
