What a lovely name you have, and I can tell that in your heart you are a lovely person, too. You and I can get past the whole Goth thing and have a nice talk. What kinds of things do you like to do other than express yourself through your dress and makeup? (Father won't let me wear makeup - even though am almost 24, I live at home, and his rules are to be followed).

I believe we truly know a person by their deeds and not their appearance. I'm not saying that if I see a black person walking down the street that I won't sometimes be tempted to cross to the other side - but that just comes from having too many pies stolen from my window. When a person is going to base their income from making pies (and my sale of Google stock), it's only natural to be cautious, don't you think, hon? And it's not like I don't trust all blacks. I think our Sister Vavoline could be trusted, and many of our titanium tithers have a black for their help.

As I become stronger in JESUS, I have let go of many of those misconceptions about people. These days, I tend to just give my love to those that need it, regardless of what others think. I hope I can make a pie for you someday. Welcome to our friendly forums.

You know what, Hillary? I fibbed earlier. I fibbed because I was testing you. I pretended to be an outsider to the goth scene because I was hoping that, given the opportunity, you would be honest with us about your drug use.

The truth, Hillary, is that before I got saved, I spent years and years immersed in the goth scene. I know from personal experience that the scene is fueled by meth, even more so than the gay nightclub scene. Sure, there are goths who don't snort, smoke, and inject meth, but they are the exception, not the rule.

Are drugs tolerated in the clubs? Well, if the doorman knows you're dealing, he'll kick you out. But beyond that, go to any goth club in the San Francisco Bay Area on any night of the week, and I guarantee you'll be around people who are high out of their minds.

The Trench coat mafia were not an actual mafia. They were a bunch of kids wearing trench coats, who the media decided to mislabel Goths, and they are one of the examples you Christians have used on your forum of "Goths" being responsible for school shootings. It is the only one school shooting incident that I believe was EVER mislabeled as Goth. The other "examples" on your forums have not even the remote connection to the Goth scene of being mislabeled as belonging to it.

Not all Italians, or people of Italian descent, are related to the mafia or a part of it.

Most Goth people do not wear Trench coats. Real Goths usually like clothing that fits properly and is flattering, and it is hard to find a good tailored trench coat. Goth men are more likely to wear leather jackets, denim vests, or Victorian frock coats. The majority of people being called "Goths" who wear trench coats are in fact not Goth. They are mostly little Hot Topic obsessed mallcores who know next to nothing about what Goth actually is, despise the Goth club scene and prefer to attend raves or crappy Rock shows (if they venture into a so-called Goth club, it would usually be on a night that does not actually play Goth music/is not a Goth night), and do not listen to Goth music. To quote one trench coat wearing wannabe "I can't stand Orpheus. Please please please turn that music off. It's boring and it sucks."

You do realize that trench coats were one by a majority of detectives and ladies between the 1940s and 1960s? It is certainly not a Goth invention.

Because I'm pretty sure I have not committed suicide, since I'm sitting here typing and getting ready to hopefully go to the movies with my husband, if he does not have to work overtime. Nor have the thousands of Goths that inhabit the world over. Nor have I ever attempted to commit suicide. Most Goths are happy, so why would they do such a thing? Again, you are confusing Goth with depressed mallcore teenager seeking attention.

The only weapon I have ever brought to a school was a small cross key chain that was a very tiny pocket knife. I liked the cross on it and wore it attached to my belt on weekends and simply forgot to take it off before Monday. As soon as I realized it was still on my belt, I handed it to my teacher to hold until school let out. I do not currently own any weapons except for a bow and arrow, and I have never handled a gun in my entire life. And as I said before, every example you have of so-called Goths being responsible for school shootings are in fact not perpetrated by fans of Goth Rock. Those people were not Goths. Can you provide an example of an article about a school shooting where it mentions the criminals listening to Bauhaus or wearing a Ravenland t-shirt? I doubt it.

And what proof do you have that any of those things are facts? You accuse me of being 300 lbs or more, of being fat. You accuse all Goths of being fat or obese. Many are healthy and toned or skinny. I work out on an almost daily basis, and weight between 100-105 lbs.



You say all Goths wear make-up, yet they do not. I do not, and there is an entire thread on Vampirefreaks about Goths who do not wear make-up. Most of the people on there saying they do in fact wear make-up, wear only a minimal amount. Most Goths, excluding the German scene, can't even stand the white face/corpse paint worn by BlacK Metal fans and some mallcores. Nor can they stand the black lipstick, or painting designs on your face. They will tell most little wannabe teenagers that it looks absolutely ridiculous.

You claim all Goths are lesbians and child abusers/baby eaters, yet I am happily married with a 5 year old son. Many Goths are married with children. I have a friend who's mother has been Goth for years, she is in her twenties. Obviously, her mother did not eat her. If you look through any Goth club pictures, you will find mostly women posing with their boyfriends or husbands. The majority of pictures of women posing with women are simply friends. There are not anywhere near as many homosexuals or bisexuals in the Goth club scene as you seem to think.

You claim all Goths are on drugs, yet drugs are frowned upon by the majority of the current Goth scene and are not allowed in the clubs. I don't believe Club Orpheus, The Depot, The Trocadera Theatre, The Bathaus, Nocturne, Ottobar, or the Gold Club have ever been in the news for any type of drug related crimes, violence, or any crime at all. Granted Ottobar and Gold Club are not Goth clubs, but they have held Goth events.

Black Metal is obviously not Goth. They are two completely different genres of music, and I really don't see how you can claim it's a fact that Black Metal is Goth. I'm also getting ridiculously tired of seeing the word "Emo" thrown around by people who have no idea what it is either. Emo might be a crap subgenre of Punk music, but it is certainly not synonymous with "depressed" or "whining." This misuse of the term Emo comes from ignorant kids listening to MCR, who have no idea who Rites of Spring are.

None of the things you say are about Goths are facts. If they were, you would provide some kind of evidence, since you are the ones claiming these things and telling parent's that Goth is dangerous and violent and to keep their kids away from it. My parents would have done nothing by laugh at you all for making unfounded claims you cannot prove. And of course, if anyone provides any type of evidence to prove that ANY of the things you claim about Goth is true, you immediately make up an excuse to delete it. Because you know you're wrong.

I have not told a single like, unlike some other people here.

The majority of the Goth club scene does not tolerate drugs. Your little scene you claim to have been a part of encompasses a very small portion of the globe. Honestly, I don't think there is even a speck on the globe for it. Most Goths will tell you they cannot stand drugs, and call you an idiot for using them. There is a reason that under former management, Baltimore Goth clubs did not tolerate drugs. It was very well policed by the staff, and there were only ever any problems when the Ravers started coming into the club. Because most Goths do not approve.

I have no idea what the current managers of Club Orpheus are allowing because that club ceased to be anything but a poseur disgrace to the Goth scene when they got their new management in January. Most Baltimore Goths are currently boycotting the club. As they are not playing Goth music and very few actual Goths are attending their events, what the club does no longer has any reflection on the Goth scene. The Baltimore scene is even currently promoting anti-cigarette use.

Yeah I'm sure. And where are the pictures proving that Goths constantly wear trench coats? I have yet to see a single trench coat in the Goth scene. Now Marilyn Manson, Slipknot, Disturbed, etc., fans who think they are Goth is another story...

Are you confusing mallcores with Goths? Or just confusing frock coats, pirate coats, leather jackets, or any long black jacket or coat with a trench coat?

If someone is not a fan of Goth music, they are not a Goth. That is what a Goth is. A fan of Goth music. There are no other requirements. There is nothing else that can make someone Goth.
