You're confused, dear. You see, man does not have the authority to change the will of God on any subject. Most other churches will do so for the sake of keeping their pews warm on Sunday morning. At Landover Baptist Church, however, we heed the severe warnings in several places in the Bible concerning any changes that we try to make to God's word. If we pervert the Gospel by changing it, the LORD promises we will be accursed.

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
    Galatians 1:6-9

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
    Revelation 22:18-19

How much stronger warnings could God give to those who try to make changes to His will, such as trying to protect the sin of left homosexuality by suggesting people are "born that way"? God has said plainly that it is necessary to fear and obey (Ecclesiastes 12:13), not rationalize what feels good.

Why do you seek a church that would ignore the very Word of God just to ease your conscience?

My past is dark and I don't want to glorify it as I'm not proud, rather ashamed. But if you must know I smoked pot and drank alcohol, went to heavy metal concerts and had sex outside of marriage to name a few. Please realize I only did this because I was backslid and was just curious. I know it was wrong and thankfully it has been washed clean by the blood of the lamb.

    Re: Maybe this time...

Thanks Mary, I prayed that God would lead me to a place of support and encouragement. As a boy I had a plaque on my wall of Jeremiah 29:11 that talks about God having a plan for us to bring about hope and a future so that is probably my favorite. That verse has stuck with me through the years even in my days of sinning.

    Two things:

    1. Go to both of those other "christian" forums and ask them to point out what Scripture says about homos (you can also ask us). Post the results.

    2. Tell us more about yourself and the mindless depravity you are leaving behind...we want to get to know you!

    Yours in Christ,

    Z. Smyth

Welcome to the forums, dear. You'll find no other church community that defends belief in the Word of God more so than here at Landover Baptist. What is your favorite Bible verse, dear?

  • Maybe next time my attempted troll will be more believable

I'll get it right. I'm returning to the Lord after backsliding. About 10 years ago I just accepted I was going to go to hell and was going to live it up here on earth. I got tired of feeling like I had lost my salvation by cussing or lusting. It just felt wrong to torture me for slipping up even though I tried so hard and meant well.

On Easter I went to church with my mom and at the end of the skit they actually said my name and that God loves me. I was relieved that there was still hope and God still wanted me as his child. I rededicated my life to the lord when I got home and I have been trying but I just feel so alone and that God is being distant and holding back on me to see if I'm serious.

My pastor said I need to be in the presence of fellow christians to help strengthen and encourage me. This is the third christian forum I've joined today and I'm reaching out to you for your prayers and support. I still struggle with taking the Bible literally but I'm choosing to believe regardless what my gut tells me.

With us being in the end times I feel I have a chance to make it to heaven as time is so short now. If I can just hang on to my faith for a few more years I should be gold in the end. Thank you for the Godly support and encouragement and prayers, I need all the christian support I can muster.
