That's not the point Mrs. Hun was trying to make. Misuse of big words marks one as a pretentious twat. Said misuse not only includes actual wrong use of the word (especially when combined with neglect of your automatic spellchecker), but overuse of lexicographical "dynamite". You also risk losing clarity of meaning. Always keep your audience in mind.

Write as you would speak to a parent or teacher. I learned a variation of that ("write as one would speak to a friend"), but kids these days are all "l33t txt spk Iv ad ur mum" crap, and that won't fly here.

Only hypocrites are admonished to not judge. please do not cherry pick the Bible, young lady.

Ya want to know the best and most important miracle ever done? Jesus dying on the cross to save us sinners. For all have fallen short of the glory of God and therefore none would get into heaven. But God sees us as he sees His Son, holy and sin free, but only if we are saved.

You're most welcome dear! Which miracle has most set your heart aflame? Is it when Jesus reverses the effects of cellular decomposition following death (John 11:1-44)? Maybe when He curses a fig tree for having the audacity of not producing fruit for Him off season (Mark 11:12-20)? Or maybe when He made a coin appear in a fish's mouth, perhaps inspiring the story of the Fisherman and his wife so many years later (Matthew 17:27)!

What exactly is an "upper level vocabulary", Holmberg dear? It's not a term used in my Godless country.

I apologize for making a simple spelling error. It won't happen again. But if we're going to discuss vocabulary, I would like to point out that I have a plethora of word choices at my disposal. I sincerely apologize if you think that having an upper level vocabulary automatically categorizes one into the unintelligent category; under the false assumption that use of an external resource is required. If you wish, I could dumb down my speech for the sake of further cementing the unintelligence of adolescent children.

Now that we have that out of the way, may I ask why this is important? You understood the main message, and that's that. God's word contains small spelling errors in some translations, but we don't harp on God's word for it.

Holmberg, I find it hard to believe you don't masturbate. Most teenaged boys cannot keep their hands off themselves. I try to counsel many of them to think about Jesus when they feel sexually aroused.

As far as people having the "right" to rape themselves, I differ with that view. I don't think people have the "right" to masturbate any more than they have the right to murder, steal, covet or associate with gaysexuals. These are all sins and fall short of the glory of God. I don't to any of these. Praise Jesus.

Aaargh! Enough! I am sorry, Brothers and Sisters in Christ, but I am sure I speak for many of the women here - the many years we spent home-schooling our children and grandchildren make it difficult to ignore this.***

Please, Holmberg dear, I beg of you:

    1. Stop using words that you only heard someone use once without first looking them up. It's not big and it's not clever, especially when you misheard them and therefore have no idea how to spell them. (The word, by the way, is propensity.)

    2. You have a spell-checker. Use it so as to avoid unnecessary errors.

    3. "If in doubt about a word, use another word" is a pretty good rule.

I will pray for you, dear.

*** As an aside, it might be helpful for us to start a Remedial Written English thread, to help young people who have not had the benefit of a proper education.

You shouldn't be. I don't even masturbate, and I was just providing an argument. I would give my life for Christ, and that is not what is in question. What is in question is your perpencity to instigate unneccesary altercations for the sake of a zealous attitude.
