Welcome to our friendly forums! The answer is first three, of course. The Holy Ghost is given unto True Christians™ as a helper, a spiritual protector. It is how we can know what we are doing is perfectly in line with the mind and will of God even when others accuse us of being irrational, tyrannical, or hypocritical (John 14:16-17).Originally posted by michaele251
The Holy Ghost teaches and guides us (you included "protect" twice, I'm not sure why). Through the fruits of this Spirit, True Christians are able to express real love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control, the likes of which are impossible for the unbelieving soul (Galatians 5:22-23).
One function of the Holy Ghost is to fight and lie. Consider Moses', Joshua's, and David's great military accomplishments. Their various religious and culture/ethnic cleansing campaigns were a rounding success due to the contributions and leadership of the Holy Ghost. And finally, the Holy Ghost does lie when it pleases the Good Lord to do so (Deuteronomy 13:1-3; 2 Thessalonians 2:11-12). What a fun poll! I love talking about the Holy Ghost! I know we can't know what He looks like, and while it may be tempting to think of Him as a bigger, friendlier version of Casper the Friendly Ghost, still, I like to think of Him with the Face and Heart of Jesus! I always think of the Holy Trinity like this!
(I like this picture the best, not only because there are THREE JESUS FACES to focus on -squee!- but because the sweet little cherubs are so cute! I think they must LOVE being so close to the Lord Jesus Christ every day and night, or however time is organized in Heaven. I think they must feel very special and grateful to sing praises unto the Lord Jesus Christ every moment. I sometimes imagine myself as one of those little cherubs, and I do hope that's not a sin, but to be the little head that Jesus - any of them, really - rests His Perfect Foot on would be just such an honor! I, too, want to be your footstool! Between the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, that's six feet You need to rest. Please choose Sister Mary, Brother Faith, and me for at least one or both of your feet. I would anoint them with hyssop and wipe them with my curly hair if You so choose. Glory to Your Feet!
