All these major military failures have caused the armed forces to rethink their strategies and redo the training and equipment plans. The excellent results in Cambodia, Eritrea, Iraq and Afgahnistan have proven this without a doubt. Yet the toll for the lessons learned in former Yugoslavia is enormous.

• The Dutch word for virgin is 'maagd'. For example, the Dutch term for the Virgin Mary is 'Maagd Maria'.
• Alcohol and medicines are legal in The Netherlands. Alcohol up to 15% for ages 16 and up, over 15% for ages 18 and up. Medicines either over the counter or by doctor prescription. Medicine includes marihuana, but no other commonly known recreation drugs. Marihuana can also be bought by people of ages 18 and up at so called coffeeshops. Selling and possesion of small amounts is legal (5 grams) for citizens and tourist alike. All other commonly known recreation drugs are illegal, as is larger amount of marihuana.
• Abortion is allowed up till 24 weeks of pregnacy. Euthanasia is allowed in very severe cases. Postnatal abortions which is not considered euthanasia is not allowed.
• Sex is allowed from ages 16 and up. Recording or photographing sex (so called pornography), is allowed from ages 18 and up.
