Re: Basic Recipes Needed
Thank you, Sister! Samuel grilled some beef, chicken, and pork yesterday and asked me to make a pie with them tonight. He also requested that I substitute my usual gravy with beef gravy, so I'm praying that he will find the end result to be as satisfactory as the original version.

Re: Basic Recipes Needed
My apologies for double posting, but Samuel wanted me to share the recipe for the pie that I served on the night that he proposed to me. Ladies, I hope your men enjoy it as much as my man does.
Ingredients:
-Homemade pie crust (not bacon)
-Dough circle to put on top of pie
-1/4 pound of beef (pre-cooked)
-1/4 pound of pork (pre-cooked)
-1/4 pound of chicken (pre-cooked)
-1/4 pound of bacon (pre-cooked)
-2 large carrots
-2 cups fresh peas
-2 potatoes
-1 large bowl of homemade gravy (I'd give you my recipe, but it's a family secret)
-Salt
-Pepper
Instructions:
1. Heat oven to 425 degrees
2. Cut beef, pork, chicken, and bacon into small pieces and add to the gravy
3. Stir the meat and gravy until the meat is completely covered
4. Repeat step 2 with the carrots and potatoes
5. Mix the carrots, peas, and potatoes in a separate bowl with some salt and pepper
6. Add the vegetables to the gravy and stir until they're covered
7. Pour the gravy, meat, and vegetable mixture into the pie crust
8. Cover with the circle of dough and seal the edges of the pie. I use the tines of a fork to press the edges together
9. Brush melted butter over the top crust
10. Cut a slit in the top crust. If you want, you can cut a cross in the top crust instead.
11. Put the pie in the oven after it has reached 425 degrees
12. Let the pie cook until the top crust is golden brown
13. Grab your oven mitts and take the pie out
14. Let the pie cool either on a cooling rack or on a windowsill
15. When the pie has cooled, cut off a large slice and serve it to your man with some gravy on the side. If you have any leftover beef, chicken, or pork, serve it on the side as well. Any leftover bacon can be crumbled up and served on top of the pie.
Enjoy!

Oh, my! What a delicious-looking recipe, Roland! Samuel loves bacon and I am considering adding some to my stuffing in the future.Originally posted by Roland View PostPerhaps you could try the ¨bacon approach¨. Michel's father tried the stuffed pork loins and he would like me to show her how to make them. I will be teaching her how to make them today, but her stuffing leaves a lot to be desired, so we might be working on that for a while.

Re: Basic Recipes Needed
Thank you for your concern, Sister! I will admit that I have found it baffling that he hasn't proposed, especially since his parents always told him that he has to get engaged before Michel does, and it seems like her suitor really wants to marry her. He is an honest, Godly man who has said that he is looking for a wife, but he wants to be sure that he picks the perfect one. I was hoping that Friday night's dinner was his much-awaited sign from God that he should propose, but I feel like he would have done so by now. Thank you for your prayers, I greatly appreciate them.Originally posted by Joanna Lytton-Vasey View PostEsther, your Samuel seems sadly indecisive and slow to get to the point. Re: Basic Recipes Needed
You're probably right, Sister. Thank you for your kind words!Originally posted by Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson View PostSince he knows his daughter is not the best cook, he wants to make sure the recipe meets his standards, by a proper woman.
I made the stuffed pork loins for Samuel last night and he LOVED them. After he finished the first bite, he looked so happy that I thought that he might propose to me on the spot. He ended up asking for seconds and he probably would have asked for thirds if I had made more and he hadn't gotten full. After dinner, he told me that it was the pork and stuffing he'd ever had. Despite my few seconds of hope, he didn't propose to me then, either. His father called this morning and asked me to make some next time his family came over to have dinner with my family.
Thanks again, Sister Elizabeth!

Re: Basic Recipes Needed
Not yet, but I'm planning on making it for Samuel either tonight or tomorrow. He loves anything that includes pork or stuffing. His father asked me to try out a few of the recipes before I teach Michel how to make them. I'm curious as to why, but it wouldn't be proper for me to question him.Originally posted by Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson View PostHave you tried the stuffed pork loins yet? Those would be a good dish for serving her future master and husband.

Re: Basic Recipes Needed
I think Michel has finally gotten the hang of making pies. The pie she made on the day of my last post came out perfect, and since then, she's made chicken and turkey pies. We're starting on pork pie and Biblically correct Ezekiel Bread today. Her suitor owns a horse farm and he has happily agreed to give us the dung from the horses. I would also like to note that we did not work on any recipes on Sunday, as doing so would not be appropriate.
Sister Elizabeth, the recipes you sent arrived yesterday. Thank you so much! Is there anything you think we should try making first?

Thanks for your concern, Sister! We do eat the proper bread, for I do not trust store brands....you never know. I make it at home, and use the dung from my husband's brother's cattle industry, which he is happy to give to me.Originally posted by Basilissa View PostSister, are you absolutely sure that you're eating the proper Ezekiel bread?
You know, the kind baked over dung:

Because there are some cheap knock off "Ezekiel" breads, which are not made with dung:

BEWARE!!!

I mailed to you a copy of my personal recipes I use often. As for bread, are you making Ezekiel bread? I sure hope so, that's the only type allowed in my household, besides the godly white bread from Walmart.
