    Re: Pie season!

I asked Pastor Ezekiel and he told me that yes, pumpkins are indeed Satan's favorite fruit. So there will be no pumpkin pies from me in the Anderson household this winter, but I'm sure daddy will still try to get ma to make them. I'll have to tell her to read the forums here.

As for the pre-baked crust... ma and I usually bake a bunch of short-crusts at the beginning of the season and freeze them, that way we have our own stock of "pre-baked" crusts all winter long.

I'd love love looooove to take instruction on baking and other domestic arts from the ladies of Landover. Gosh what an honor! If daddy and my brother let me come to Freehold during the witch hunt maybe I can meet some of you

I see that most of you only talk about sweet pies for dessert, how do you feel about home made meat pies?

I enjoy a mince pie, although there is something just not quite right with the one's BIG makes. I gave her my mothers recipe book and she says she follows it to a T, but it's just not the same as my mothers. Unfortunately my mother went to Jesus before I met BIG so she can't ask her. BIG does have a nice recipe for game bird pot pie that is absolutely delicious. It is also very versatile as in you can use different types of birds and different vegetables and it still works out wonderfully.

As for the pumpkins. I am not about to give up my sugar pumpkin pie. Here is a picture of them cut open

As you can see, they are not made for carving. In fact I have never seen sugar pumpkins for sale in any grocery store. We have always had to either grow them ourselves or go to certain farmers. Liz then makes a bunch of pumpkin puree and freezes it in one pie batches for later use.
PROOF: Atheists are too stupid to understand the Bible!

Proverbs 13:24(KJV): "He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes."

Galatians 4:16 Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

There is a huge difference between a "jack-o-lantern" pumpkin and a "pie" pumpkin.

The Satanic ones AKA "Field pumpkins" are grown for size and for a thin shell. They make lousy pies. I used one to make a pie for my father years ago and he asked me if I had used lumber. It really tasted like sweetened wood.

The pie pumkins AKA "sugar pumpkins" are too small and too fleshy to carve. They tend to only be 8" in diameter and mostly flesh with a very small seed cavity. They are useless to the satanists. So if you are making a pie I would suggest you avoid canned puree and make sure that you are using the proper pumpkins.

That and Seth would absolutely flip out if he didn't get his pumpkin pies from October to December.
Sister BIG, may I suggest using Acorn, Hubbard, or Butternut Squash, or perhaps some sweet potatoes, instead?

(The ACORN squash might be most suitable if you're making a pie for the field hands.)

This way, you can have a delightful squash-based pie without any of the sin associated with pumpkins.

(I learned this little tip from the Widow Helen. She made the most delightful squash-and-meat pies!)

Miss Annie, please let me know if you decide to try the squashes or the sweet potato. I'd be happy to taste your experimental pie any day!

                  Manny. Not "Many".

That high-carb diet of yours has damaged your brain.

I don't cook, I only relayed what Widow Helen told me she does instead of risking the evil pumpkins. Naturally, when she whipped out what I took to be a pumpkin pie, I was concerned . . . until she explained the ingredients.

I will have you know that I've often eaten Helen's pie over the years, and found it tasty, if occasionally a bit tough and dry.

(Don't tell her I said that. Her thermostat was malfunctioning, and her oven occasionally overheated without warning. It wasn't her fault!)

All I did was relay a recipe and that was a bad enough crime for "Pastor" Manny to condemn me, what you did is no different.
