I'm pretty horrified that your uncle would give you the pearl necklace to which his wife was undoubtedly entitled.

Not at all! She's not saved, so she not only thought it was a fine idea, but she encouraged him! She said, "I just couldn't wait to see the look on your face. I was sure you'd enjoy it just as much as I enjoyed seeing him give it to you." That just shows how little she knows me! I don't want a pearl necklace at all, not from any man and especially not my uncle!

Why shouldn't she? There's nothing in the Bible about wives not watching while uncles give their nieces pearl necklaces. The only problem is the pearls themselves.

When i was younger my mom came home from the bowling alley with some Jergens cream all over her collerbone. I asked her what that mess was for and she got all red and told me some man gave her a pearl necklance but it made her skin dry so she gave it back. She explained this as she rubbed the creamy lotion deep into herself while looking right at me so i'd see that it was just for medicinal purposes.

At least i think thats what she said.

I think it would look nice on my healthy tan skin in summer in a bare shoulders dress when I was in a wedding party of my friend Maribel who get marry next month or something where a girl can dress nice.

It is a slippery slope; once young women start taking the pearls they think they can do anything! Perhaps a bracelet might seem a nice thought - the advice in this thread tells us it is wrong however - and an ill-informed girl might accept one. Next would come the necklaces, and even pearl SHOES are available

No Christian woman would ever let her feet anywhere near such a gruesome pair!

The Dutch people even have a song about the awful decline which follows the acceptance of pearls. It could almost be their national anthem. It explains what happened to young Candy once she .. ..

Although tragic, Candy's life may serve as a warning to anyone currently windowshopping and tempted by what is displayed in the jeweller's window.

I am still no sure what is wrong whit pearls necklaces. i think pearls can look nice on the right type of skin - I mean I never have wear pearls never but I was thinking of wear something like that whit the new dress I'm going buy for my freind's wedding this month, especialy whit that I have a nice tone of the skin for wear pearls, but is pity cos nobody ever gave me on.
