    Re: Those crazy Australians

The crooks in Australia should be happy reading this story (if they can read). I hear that the Australian police force is instituting a policy where officers are allowed to play up to an hour of Warcraft during their shift, labeling it "community involvement".
The long beam of the law

Taking aim … police have called for tenders for a virtual reality shooting range. The picture above was supplied by Meggitt Training Systems, which will bid for the project.

    Edmund Tadros
    January 4, 2009

THE NSW Police Force will spend about $2 million on a virtual reality shooting range as senior officers blame a lack of training for recruits being frightened of firearms. The police academy at Goulburn has "only six lanes" available for live fire, according to a tender request for the new training simulator. In the past, recruits have used public shooting ranges to supplement their training.

"The capacity of this [Goulburn] facility has been exceeded due to an increasing number of recruits," the tender document states. Senior police say the lack of access to shooting ranges has resulted in some younger officers receiving so little practice that they are scared of using their guns. Officers also claim their annual day-long firearms requalification training is inadequate, leaving them unprepared to use their weapons in dangerous situations.

The criticisms come after the shooting of 48-year-old Susan Bandera in Sydney last month by a 35-year-old female constable who has been in the force for two years. Virtual ranges involve replica guns, complete with recoil, being "shot" at scenarios on a video screen, via wireless technology. The force will pay $1 million for a building plus $850,000 for the computer system, which may be operational by September.

"We have a lot of young cops who are scared of guns," a senior officer told The Sun-Herald. They are deployed most of the time and do not get enough access to training and other courses - it's a major problem." Another officer said the once-a-year requalification program was not enough: "It's amazing an innocent bystander hasn't been shot. We all know it's a pathetic level of training - command say it comes down to money and a lack of resources."

Opposition police spokesman Michael Gallacher said officers should have more firearms training. "These simulators are very advanced but quite simply nothing will replace live fire training needed to allow officers to learn how to use their weapons at a moment's notice," he said. "The idea of the training is to get a feel for the pressure of the situation of actually using the firearm that you're going to be issued. I'd be concerned we're now reducing live fire training and replacing it with the Nintendo Wii."

Police Association spokesman Greg Black said the union supported virtual training as long as it did not replace live training. Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy defended the force's training regimen, saying there would be no reduction in live training. "The use of a weapons simulator [will allow] NSW Police to train students more frequently in a more efficient and technologically advanced manner," he said. Mr Corboy said he had received no complaints about the yearly training program or officers being concerned about using their guns.
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

Nothing those crazy Australians do would surprise me. Their entire country used to be a prison camp. They've mocked God by breeding an entire continent full of frightening, hideous animals that God would have NEVER created.

These so-called people from so called god own country really need to sit down and shut the fuck up!!!

They have no idea about Australia at all.

I live in Adelaide and have practically all my life. I can walk happily down my street and feel totally safe... no one will harass me nor will some asshole cop (those typically shown on "cops" taking ppl to jail) arrest me for no reason at all. In fact after watching "cops" i am frightened to ever step onto "gods country". Besides why dirty a clean pair of shoes anyways.

Australia is free and a very fair place. Yes it has its own little problems but not so many as the US of Assholeland do.... gun crime way out of control, etc, etc.

I am a proud aussie, I love our sports like Aussie Rules and Cricket and am very proud of just how far we've come to being tolerant of other peoples race, religion, etc.

One thing I do hope with the yanks is that once Obama (who'd ever thought a black president... now that's what I call progress!!!) steps in and takes control is that the mentality they have of US vs THEM being stopped. They need to stop being so inconsistant, try clean up their own shyte before being involved with anyone elses.

Listen mate, I have spent months at a time in that Godforsaken dustbowl. It's either on fire or the Mooslums are rioting. The people are so dumb they named a beer XXXX because they didn't know how to spell 'piss'. The only TWO decent looking women Australia ever produced are probably the result of someong having it off with an American, because ozzies are even uglier than Irishers. As many as 26 endangered crocodiles have been found dead over the last three days in northern Australia and experts attribute the rare mass deaths to cirrhosis of the liver, authorities said on Friday. The reptiles died in the waters of the Kakadu river, home to the "Jumping Crocodiles".

“Autopsies confirm liver cirrhosis as the cause of death,” declared S.C. Mohanty, a top wildlife official from Kakadu park. He talked to Reuters from the banks of the Kakadu river where experts have camped to investigate the deaths. Poisoning was not suspected as fish in the river had not died, Suman said, adding that scientists would test the water for the presence of any liver-damaging toxins. Cirrhosis is marked by the loss of liver tissue, leading to the loss of function of the vital organ. Later, investigators discovered several empty cases of Foster's Lager near an abandoned camp on the river. Tents and gear were still present, although weathered, and the investigators concluded that the crocodiles likely had eaten the campers, devoured their food, then the several cases of Foster's Lager. Several cans were found in the intestines of the alligators.

Thats just funny as fucking hell.... we here in Australia don't actually drink much Fosters (No right minded aussie would!! ) so they're probably tourists with no idea at all. We have better taste than that ( I prefer the Coopers Sparkling Ale myself!!!) we export it by the shitload to wanker counties like you!!!

And as far as camping goes.... yes its fun...but be mindful where you do it.... for farks sakes.... don't do it in the kakadu by a very croc infested river. Serves them right.... I bet those campers where baptist f*cks like you and the crocs actually died of food poisoning. LOL!!!!!!!

What! No warning about drop-bears? But they don't have those in Adelaide do they. Just bars and sand dunes. Worse place in the world, I'm told. My mate lives in the civilized part up past Dungog by Clarence Town and Wallarobba. Nice up there, plenty of chooks and rabbits. Parrots are good eating and all you have to watch out for is the occasional red-bellied black. Don't let a roo catch your dog in a dam, though. I've seen it.

This doesn't surprise me: Australia is teaching its kids to fake disabilities in order to receive federal funds (the dole). Pretty soon every sixteen year old will have a handicap placard and there won't be any parking available ANYWHERE.
Students asked to dress as a disabled person for fundraiser

                      By Maria Moscaritolo
                      May 01, 2009

A PRIMARY school has infuriated parents and disability advocates by asking students to come to school dressed as a disabled person as part of a fundraiser.

In a newsletter sent home to parents on Wednesday, Ramco Primary School in South Australia advised it would hold a "disability day" and fundraiser on Friday, May 29, with prizes for the "best students dressed as a person with a disability". The aim of the dress-up is to raise money for a clinic in Bangladesh that repairs cleft lips and palates in children, The Advertiser reports.

Its newsletter stated: "There will be prizes for the best students dressed as a person with a disability. Get your thinking hats on and see what disability you can represent!"

The well-meaning idea has missed the mark, with one disbelieving parent saying she had spoken to other parents who were also bemused by the concept, wondering how they were meant to dress their child.

Fundraiser ... students have been told to: "Get your thinking hats on and see what disability you can represent!"
                      • School to hold 'disabled' dress-up day
                      • Prizes for "best dressed with a disability"
                      • Advocate says fundraiser is in "poor taste"

Principal Barrey Niven said the idea had been to raise student awareness of what it is like to cope daily with a disability but the idea had not been conveyed well in the newsletter.

The intention of the fundraiser, devised by the school's Student Representative Council, had been for students to come in with a bandaged arm or leg, he explained. He said a new letter would be sent to parents explaining the idea more clearly.

Paralympic gold medallist Matt Cowdrey said while he was sure the school's intentions were good, he didn't "think this is the best way to raise attention. People with disabilities want to be treated and should be treated no different to anybody else in the community," he said.

Disability advocate David Holst said the dress-up day was in poor taste and there were better ways to create awareness. "You can understand it's with good intent, but it is trivialising some serious issues and is the worst in poor judgement and poor taste," he said. "There are numerous agencies and associations that have regular contact (with schools) ... that could involve them in a much more positive way."
May you be a blessing to every life you touch.

Judging from the Australians who show up on this forum, Brother, I can't imagine they'd have to dress up at all.

They could just go as "developmentally disabled".
