Pagan prisoners in Britain are to be given time off work duties to allow them to observe a religious festival on the day of Halloween.

Pagans observe the Celtic New Year's Eve on 31 October, which they see as Britain's indigenous New Year event. The Home Office, which agreed to the move, said it was committed to treating all prisoners with decency, which included respecting all religions.
There are more than 300 registered Pagans in Britain's prisons.

Brian Caton, general secretary of the Prison Officers' Association, said he believed "there should be fairness across all religions" in prison.
But he said Pagans should have been asked about when they preferred to celebrate the event. He pointed out that it is an evening festival, whereas the duties inmates were being relieved from were to be carried out during the day.

I too believe all religions should be treated equally in prison. If you're in prison, you're obviously not a True Christian, which means you must be from one demonic sect or another. In other words, you deserve stoning. Giving pagan idolators time off as a reward for worshipping rocks and casting spells? Ridiculous! Why are we so keen on encouraging these criminal anti-God deviants? Just another reason why Jesus will have no choice but to toss 99.99% of Britain's population into eternal hellfire, I suppose.

I think Brother Temperance you have cut to the meat of this issue; why are we pretending that criminals are Christians and therefor deserve any compassion? Clearly the minute they did their crime was the minute God checked the "to Hell" box next to their name on the Big Book of life. The proper and Christian thing to do is to kill these wicked people.

This is indeed ridiculous. Does anyone not receive special privileges nowadays — other than middle- to upper-class, heterosexual, white male True Christians™, I mean?
