These days it's fashionable to contradict Jesus and say that there's no such thing as demon possession at all. But Jesus was very clear on this topic, even distinguishing between devils easy to remove and those more difficult spirits.
Not all demonic influence is so obvious, and there may be reinforcing factors operating before and during the actual possession event. That does not mean the evil spirit is absent at other times. The possessed individual is like a piece of property and devils choose when to manifest or, when they do, how to manifest. For example it could be during the songwriting process or as an exhibition in performance.
Exactly what the devils get out of this is beyond me. A direct perception of destruction? Maybe it's a more insidious satisfaction, seeing a broad audience deteriorate over time so that a society can emerge more conducive to demonic objectives. Ultimately however they all wind up receiving everlasting torment, as explained in The Bible.
The above example is obvious, but Christians are able to distinguish spirits and recognise when demons are active. We have a responsibility to communicate what The Holy Spirit shares with us so that others are forewarned. They will not necessarily listen and will often mock us, but we should tell them anyway. In future posts I will show other examples and if anyone has a helpful suggestion, that would be very much appreciated.
